I can help you get rid of the error message, jimd1.

It can be that your stored cache files caused the error when creating your customer statement. We can perform a few troubleshooting steps to verify that.

Log in to QuickBooks and create a customer statement in a private browser. To open one, you can follow the keyboard shortcuts below:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

If you can successfully create one, clear the cache of your main browser to eliminate excessive files. Also, ensure to use supported browsers.

I'm adding this article for additional reference on creating a statement: Create and send customer statements in QBO.

Also, check our customize reports in QuickBooks Online. It helps in getting the needed data when running a report.

Cache files are not the problem. Private windows in Safari and and Incognito windows in Chrome both give the same error message. Clearing the cache files in Chrome and Safari also did not solve the problem. I get the identical error message, and a zero balance.

What is the next step?

I figured it out. Even though there is an option to create statements in the drop-down menu for sub-customers, this seems to be non-functional. Statements can apparently only be created for top-level customers.
