Why is Intuit’s/QuickBooks customer service so bad?

You folks at Intuit are so out of touch with reality and your customers, I actually feel sorry for you, but I don't because you are costing me time and money. If you go to the Intuit website and look at the mission statement from your CEO, it is laughable, what a CLOWN. I have wasted a enormous amount of time stuck in your "customer DIS-service" system. No one tracks calls; I have to repeat myself, no one is trained; sorry but they are clueless, and it is impossible to get escalation. You cannot call Corporate; they simply hang up on you. So if you really cared you would contact each of us personally on this thread and help us. But you can't. Because you are stuck in the tiny little box that your Intuit masters tell you to stay in. You preach the same Corporate-speak to us like we are stupid little children. Meanwhile I see that you spend plenty of time with your HR policies of diversity, inclusion, and belonging. There ain't gonna be no money for those frivolous virtue-signaling programs when you alienate most of your customer base and deny them basic customer service. Sad and pathetic.

Why is Intuit’s/QuickBooks customer service so bad?

I concur with your question!  I find customer service so ineffective and frustrating that I would never recommend Quickbooks as an option to any new customers.  Unfortunately, I don't often have a choice in the software my customers have chosen to use but if I did, I would use ANY other alternative than Quickbooks.

Why is Intuit’s/QuickBooks customer service so bad?

I have been a Quickbooks supporter for over 12 years and I am currently experiencing the worst customer service in my life.  No exaggeration.  To be clear, each individual I have spoken with has been kind and I truly believe has been doing their best.  It seems that they are not well trained, they are definitely not supported by management, and the ball continues to get dropped every time I call.

My issue has been going since day one that I signed up for Quickbooks Payroll.  There seems to be a software breakdown as my screen physically lacks the necessary buttons/options for me to make an employee "Inactive".  On top of that, when I first signed up, Quickbooks automatically uploaded 52 old employees, made them active, and this eventually led to me getting charged $255 extra since customer service would not call me even though I tried multiple times through their portal.  Even asking to chat has led to no one.  The only way I have received any progress was when I dug up a phone number and called them.  I cannot explain how infuriating it is to be paying a reputable company two monthly subscriptions and the avenues they provide for getting any help lead to dead ends.

After 6+ hours on the phone with 4 different agents, over a month of attempts, I have gotten no closer to resolving the problem and am waiting to get charged again and have to fight for a refund.

Please train your agents better and if they cannot answer the question, support them!  Supervisors should be able to step in and make things right.  And in my case, when an agent says they have passed it along to "Software" and they will contact me in 48 hours as well as receive an email with my case number and neither of those things happen, then I am left feeling abandoned and very soon will have no other choice but to cancel both of my subscriptions, take my business elsewhere, and adamantly tell anyone to avoid QB in the future.

How can you provide such a good product and have such absolute garbage support?!?  Please address this ASAP.  108 comments in this community is a sign there is a real issue that is not being addressed.

And if a real human would like to respond to me and attempt to fix my unresolved issue, I would greatly appreciate that.

Help Me Please!!!!  Your customer service is SOOOO bad it is unbelievable.  Only thing they are trained to do is UPGRADE.   You removed the function to Adjust Price Level by Item to force me to upgrade, you should be ashamed.  I want a supervisor that speaks English to call me.

How can you possibly remove a feature that I bought and paid for???????

Let me edit my price list that I created in the software that I purchased.

How dare you.

I have no idea what is going on there. We have used QuickBooks since the 90s. The customer service is the worst I ask the same question over and over and they just say they don't know the program that well then I ask to speak to someone that can help us, they are quick to say they will have some one call us back well it has been 6 times some on will call us back and no calls. The lying inexperience and the incompetence is overwhelming time  to move on

You are the kind of person I would never hire in my organization. Instead of looking for solutions, you take the low-road and tell people "to move on" instead of fixing the problem. Why are you even here if you have nothing of value to give?  Perhaps just keep it shut in the future if you have nothing constructive to add.

Are you addressing your reply to me? Keep in mind that we are not part of Support and have no power to change the quality of their service. If someone has decided to quit QB, we can help them convert their data to another app. Do you need it?

Why is Intuit’s/QuickBooks customer service so bad?

YES!  I can't get any help either and now the Contact Us button doesn't work.  Not that it matters because I keep getting people who have no clue what I'm talking about that take forever to give me any information, only to have it be wrong!

I called four times!  Four times! to get some help on a question and I still don't have an answer for it.  The last young lady saw that I'm an admin but still had to go get an okay to speak with me.  I hung up on her.  If she can't figure that out then she will have no clue as to how to answer my question that no one else could seem to answer.

Now I can't pay my FUTA because QB says I must pay my SUI first.  My SUI is scheduled to be paid but QB isn't smart enough to see that.  I can't seem to get anyone to help me pay my FUTA.  Shouldn't be this hard.

Echoing this statement because I just spent another 3 hours on the phone again today just getting ping ponged back and forth between the same two departments and nobody had any clue on how to fix what seems like a very simple issue! I'm finding another alternative to QB because of this.

From what I can see is they want you to buy the products, assume we know every bit of detail and then just disappear. We just bought into their online service and were told that a dedicated "On Boarding Specialist" will call and help us setup the account or answer any questions we may have. That person had no idea what she was talking about and transferred the call to another person who also didn't have the knowledge to help us. Further, most of these "Specialists" who are employed by Inuit hardly speak and understand English. They simply hang up when they don't understand. Honestly, I didn't expect this from a company of this size & brand.

Customer service does not seem to be able to answer a simple question!! How do I transfer my transaction data from my bank to quickbooks.  I am told that only the last 3 months can be transferred.

Hi there, @oakridgecontract.

Once you connect bank your bank account for the first time to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, the system automatically downloads the maximum number of transactions available from your bank. Most banks may only download the previous 90 days.

If you wish to bring more bank data into QBO, you can get transactions from your bank and import them into the online program.

Here's how:

  1. Get transactions from your bank.
  2. Review the file format.
  3. Manually upload the transactions.

For detailed more detailed steps on the process, I recommend checking this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Once your bank transactions downloads, you can now start categorizing your transactions. This helps keep your books correct and organized.

Leave a reply below if you need additional assistance in uploading bank transactions. I'd be happy to assist you once more. Have a great day ahead.

@oakridgecontract

You have to ask the file or download it from bank and import it into your QBO account. Otherwise, utilize MT Online as a workaround. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed.

Why is Intuit’s/QuickBooks customer service so bad?

I finally got rid on QB Desktop Pro today after years of being put on hold forever, the agent responding to basic questions "please give me 5 (actually up to 15) minutes to check my resources", agent disconnecting after me being on hold for 15 minutes, supervisors not returning calls, desktop agent telling me to call payroll and after calling payroll being told to call desktop, agents saving files in every nook and cranny of my desktop, saving company files using different names for my company on desktop when on-line backup was continually failing, after payroll problem referred to Data Services an being told by Data Services that they can't fix payroll system error and it should be referred to payroll.

So I am getting a full refund on my Desktop and Payroll Services, and purchased and installed QB Online and Payroll Online for hopefully a better experience.

So I guess this answers my question about whether QB desktop might be better than QB online.

Don;t expect miracles. Same sitty company. Same lazy useless "advanced help"

I was debating switching to desktop to see if any better.

I agree with the Comments on this board. I am still on the phone after 2 hours on chat with two employees who could fix nothing, and an hour and a half on 5 phone calls. Three were dropped before a representative responded. The fourth was dropped after 40 minutes when I was put on hold so they could contact a "back end" person. I am still on hold now for the same reason. The total time of this call is now up to 45 minutes.

The problem I had is a very simple one. My desktop and payroll subscription expired, and neither I, nor they, can get the new license number to synch with our EIN.

I have thought long and hard, and this cannot be just incompetence. I believe they are coercively trying to force people to the online service, and drive customers away from retail purchase of their product. I suspect they only have a retail product so they can market a low price point,

In any case. Does anyone have a good alternative for getting rid of these guys?

@xyz123

Do you consider switching to a 3rd party payroll app or replace QB Desktop completely?

We are open to anything. We will not renew in 2023 if any decent alternative exists.

QuickBooks product does a lot right, so the bar for alternatives is quite high.

Intuit must not realize it,  but the history of bloated, unresponsive companies is that they get displaced by inferior products at a better price with decent support.

Why is Intuit’s/QuickBooks customer service so bad?

HORRIFIC is all I can say and now I'm trying to cancel my assisted payroll service.  I subscribed (even though I have only one employee) because I knew I risked making errors on 941s and setting up my employee with a 401k, things beyond just a normal paycheck.  Every single check since they set up my 401k has been wrong.  I've requested a correction for every check and the 941s for the last half of the year (requiring at least ten hours on my part and at least four or five phone calls every time just to try to get one person to help.)  Their staff is underqualified (I've spent tons of my time listening to them "read up on how to do this or that" and then when we hit the "oh, these are prior pay periods, you'll need to go to amendments" it's an entirely new nightmare.  I never had a call from amendments team.  They sent a "case resolved" email and attached a blank document (after five weeks) and nothing has been done.  Back on the merry-go-round.  The worst part is I could fix this and have already spent nearly a thousand dollars with another bookkeeper trying to fix it but we cannot access the payroll since I'm in their "assisted payroll" service.  Now the question is CAN I GET OUT OF THIS HELL or is getting out like going to Hotel California?  You can get in but cannot ever leave?  Such a disappointment and an expensive experience to learn their support is HORRIFIC.  Buyer beware. Run for any other service you can get if you actually want qualified help.  And I will say I LIKE MY QUICKBOOKS SOFTWARE - I've been using it since 1995, but this assisted payroll and amendments team help has destroyed my confidence in continuing to get their "support." So, as long as you can handle your own accounting, the software is great.  Just don't ever require their support...hire outside person - whatever.  Good luck.
