Thank you for getting back. I tried the steps you mentioned but this did not work.
When I manually enter data into a line for the invoice I see both the rate and the quantity in the invoice PDF. When I add the data from a project, I can see the data in the invoice creation page but not in the final PDF. I have tried creating new project as well to test this and I cannot get the data to populate in the PDF for any project.
Thanks for getting back to us, usernolan-houston.
We can review how the invoice was set up. This might be the reason why it is not showing the quantities when previewing the invoice.
You can use this link for reference when customizing an invoice template: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.
After that, you can go open and preview the invoice again. This should now display the Quantity and the Rate columns.
Let us know how this goes so we can further review the details.
Was this ever resolved?
I am having the same issue although I don't know when it started because it did not use to be this way. When I populate an invoice from time entries, I can see both the quantity (time) and rate, but on the invoice the client sees, both columns are blank. Only the manually entered line items - for example, application of a retainer, can be seen in the quantity and rate columns. I have cleared my browser cache and I have tried customizing invoices. The sample shows up fine but when I generate a real invoice, I have the same problem.
I appreciate you performing the troubleshooting steps provided by my colleagues above to fix your issue, @sharilutz.
I've created an invoice on my sample file and send it to my email, and I was able to see the quantity and rate columns in the PDF file. Since your clients don't see the information on both columns, let's try to create an invoice in a test drive account and send it to your personal email. This way, we can verify if both columns are showing.
If it shows on the test drive account, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. This way, they can further check the invoice template via screen-sharing. They can also create an investigation ticket if other users are experiencing the same.

I finally found what the problem is. I bill my time. To show the quantity and rate you have to go into Custom Forms, click at the top on Content, selct the pencil and even though the Quantity and Rate boxes are checked, you have to go lower on the left side of the page, click on "show more activity options," and then check the box for "show billable time," and "include hours and rate." I kept thinking that since the quantity and rate boxes were checked above this option, that I was good. But these must be for selling product, not one's time. Problem solved although I have no idea how this option ever got turned off - probably me.
Thanks for the solution - had the same problem & your answer solved the problem.
Thanks, it solved my problem with the blank data in the quantity and rate fields on the pdf invoices.
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for this. I just started in this new position and I had to edit our invoice template to suit our client's needs. In the process, the billable time no longer showed up in the quantity and rate columns. I tried everything to figure it out and even called customer service to try to fix it to no avail! I tried this fix and it worked! Thanks so much for sharing!!
