slow reports after upgrading to QB Mac 2024

I upgraded my QB desktop for Mac to the 2024 version last week and it has since been excessively slow to pull the reports and to change the information within the report once up (i.e. to remove type, memo, etc.). It causes crash catcher to appear if I ask for a large report for my accountant, like a GL for last year. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

slow reports after upgrading to QB Mac 2024

Hello karav,

Thank you for connecting with the QuickBooks Community!  It is unfortunately, this is happening. I would appreciate it if you could answer a few questions to try to resolve this issue.

  1. Are you using a host computer?
  2. Have you checked your network to see if there is an issue with the internet?
  3. How large is your company file?

In the meantime, could you open a sample file, run those same reports, and let me know if those reports also? Knowing these will aid us tremendously! Looking forward to your response.

Thank you for the response.

I am not using a host computer.

Our internet is running perfectly.

How do I tell you how big my company file is? Why would this make a difference when the problem was not occurring until after upgrading?

How do I open sample file?

Thanks again.

I'll help you resolve the issue of pulling up reports slowly in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, @karav.

The Error Catcher appears when QuickBooks faces an unforeseen problem. To resolve this issue and prevent it from happening again, please utilize the following solutions.

Here's how:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. Make sure that your QuickBooks is updated to the latest release to ensure you have all the enhancements and corrections for the software.
  3. Run your computer in Safe Boot mode.
  4. Create a new Mac OS user to check if the permission of the user is the cause of the error.
  5. Delete .plist files.

Here is an article for the detailed steps of each procedure when troubleshooting crash catcher: Troubleshoot Crash Catcher.

Also, you can get the file size and your company information by pressing Command1.

Additionally, I'll show you how to open a sample file in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. Follow the steps below:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
  2. In the No Company Open window, navigate your cursor to the Open a sample file section and click the dropdown arrow.
  3. Select a sample file and follow the on-screen instructions to finish.

For future reference, I'm adding this article to help you keep track of your transactions and add some details you need to show in your reports by customizing it: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Let me know if you need further assistance with the system performance. I'm always here to help. Have a great day.

Run the Verify/Rebuild Data utility. Did you encounter any error message?

I have had the same issue... It's a real pain. I've tried the "Verify", "rebuild" (when needed) and also try to "Condense" my Quickbooks. Condense just doesn't work. I have a lot of back files but even when I try to condense a year at a time (ex 2005) It has run literally 18 hrs with no success...

I was able to condense my "audit log" but that didn't help. My troubles have been since my last update. I'm currently running V23.1.4 R5 build 668. When I select any item from a report... fir example to see the detail of "Sales" it take 3-4 minutes to open the next window detailing the account and then I can't scroll from top-to-bottom... Just does a "jerky" line at a time.

This has happened since the last update which leads me to believe there is a bug in the upgrade download.

I've used QB for almost 30 years and this is a real problem. Please work on a patch/repair for this issue

Is there a repair download?

Dee

You may have 2 options:

1. Purchase a 3rd party condense service.

2. Create a new company file and open the old file only to access your historical data
