Let's try some steps to resolve the issue, brian22.
If you haven't already, please use a different browser and log in to QuickBooks Online. The browser that you're using might have stored too much data or is having an issue that's keeping you from editing the vendor's profile.
You can use any of these browsers:
You can also delete your browsing history, then log back in. Once done, go back to the vendor's profile and click the Edit button to check if that works. Open this article on how to do that: How do I clear my browser cache and temporary Internet files?
Let me know if you need anything else.
I'm having the same issue. Tried a different browser and clearing the cache. Some vendors I can edit the profile, others I cannot - I get a blank screen.
Hello there, @pup.
I have some information to share about getting a blank screen upon editing a vendor or contractor's profile in QuickBooks Online.
We currently received reports wherein customers are seeing a blank screen when editing vendors' information. Our engineers are already investigating the main reason for this unusual behavior, so they can apply a permanent resolution.
In this case, I'd suggest reaching out to our Customer Care Team so you'll be added to the list of the affected users. This way you'll be able to receive email notifications about the recent updates about this issue.
For now, to make your work done, you can refresh the contractors page by pressing F5 on your keyboard or click on your browser's refresh/reload button. This will re-display the list of contractors'.
Thank you for your patience while this has been worked on.
My doors are always open to help if there's anything else you need concerning QuickBooks. Just leave a reply below and we'll take it from there. Have a fantastic weekend!
Was this ever resolved? I cannot edit a vendor either. It almost a year later...no resolution online I can find?
Thanks for joining the conversation and subscribing for updates, @tingle,
The problem you're experiencing with the unresponsive behavior when editing a Vendor profile is something our engineers are currently working on. To get live updates about the issue, I recommend contacting our Support Team so they can add your account to our notification list.
Have them add your email to the investigation number INV-38761.
We don't have the exact time on when they will release a fix for this particular issue. To complete your work, here are some workarounds you can try:
I appreciate your patience while we're working on this. If you have any questions with QuickBooks, please let me know in the comment below. Have a great day!
Same issue tried suggestions. Even have the issue with the windows App. Edit button does nothing. Finally got it to work with Safari.
This is a huge time suck and needs to be resolved ASAP.
Thanks and welcome aboard to the Community, @Nealwald.
We have an open ticket about the Edit Vendor button being responsive. Our engineers are finding a complete solution to get this feature working back to normal.
While waiting for the permanent fix, we’ll have to add the company to the notification list. This is to ensure you receive email updates regarding the resolution status.
Here's how:
Rest assured, I’ll update this thread once information is available about the investigation.
Reach out to me whenever you have additional questions about QBO. Please know I’m always ready to assist further. Have a good one.
BILL.COM WORK-AROUND
Update the information in Bill.com and sync.
But, agreed, this is a ridiculous pain in the rear that continues a year later!
I found the way to change vendor info - if you edit it not in Expenses>Vendors but in Workers>Contractors. It worked for me.
Thanks for joining in, @alaurenzo.
That’s a wonderful workaround. Thank you for providing that information.
Go to Workers then Contractors to edit the vendors at the time being. If you are still having this issue, there is an investigation that is on-going. You can request a Call Back and request to be added to the INV-38761.
If you have any additional questions, feel free to comment below.
While this workaround allows you to edit basic info, It does not contain every field like the 1099 check box or a few additional items.
The only way we can get this to work is by using Safari. It's very hard to believe that this issue has not been resolved yet. The development team needs to prioritize this bug.
I had this issue and I fixed it by clearing my Chrome History AND Cookies AND Cache (check ALL 3 boxes in the clear browsing data section of more tools.) This logs you out of Quickbooks online and when you log back in, you should now be able to edit vendors and check the 1099 box. Worked for me. Hope it helps everyone.
This did not work for me. Even the QBO windows app does not allow editing vendors. Our only solution is to use edge (I misspoke in my earlier post. It works in Edge). No love from Chrome or the QBO windoes app.
I had the same issue in Chrome, F5 fixed it for me. Lost a lot of time trying to figure this out. Please fix this issue.
Thanks for joining this thread, Elijah3.
Great job for pressing F5 on your keyboard. Refreshing your browser is the recommended steps to fix this.
This issue is only reproducible if you first navigate the Contractors page, and then directly go to the edit page. If you run through the Sales page, you won't run into this behavior.
I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Technical Team to keep you updated via email. They can add your account to the investigation so you'll be notified. Just follow the steps provided by my colleague above on how to get in touch with them.
Rest assured our Product Team is actively working to get this resolved.
Welcome to QBO the least logical software so far. How can one edit vendor information? This should be easy and straightforward.
This isn't the impression that I'd like you to have, meganohearn.
I'll make sure that you can update your vendor information. You can go to the Vendors tab and edit the profile of your vendors. When you're ready, here's how to do it:
With QuickBooks Online, you can also import vendor contacts from Outlook, Excel, or Gmail so you don't have to manually add them.
Feel comfortable to leave a comment below if you have any other questions or concerns. The Community always has your back.
KlentB, you have repeated the procedure from Help, which clearly is not working. It is impossible to prepare 1099s at this point when we can't update the Business ID No. field. When we go into Edit this field is grey. Based on the above messages this has been a problem for more than a year...unacceptable!
