Hello there, dontbuyonline.
There are certain features that you can only do in the iPad app. You can use this link for more information about the QuickBooks Online mobile app features that are supported on mobile devices: Compare mobile app features
Voiding a transaction needs to be done through a browser. Let me show you how:
You can go back to the app and see if the invoice is already voided.
Feel free to use these links that will help you manage your transactions and activities within the system:
Keep me posted if you need anything else. Take care!
I KNOW how to void a transaction but you've killed off the Windows desktop app and chrome is not an acceptable solution. Why would you not have the void transaction feature in the iOS iPad. Please answer the question asked and don't assume next time.
Hi, @dontbuyonline.
I value your feedback about voiding transactions through an iOs app. I can see how seamless it would be to utilize the feature through your phone without opening QuickBooks in a browser. Thus, I'll guide you on how you can send your request through QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development team to help improve your experience in QBO. You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.
While they're looking into your request, you can void your transactions or invoices using a supported browser as suggested by Catherine_B above.
If you have any other follow-up questions about voiding your invoices, please let me know by adding a comment below. I'm more than happy to help. Have a good one!
No offense but you're not actually helping, I've been down that route a hundred times before and your product development team just ignores requests no matter how many times they are sent. You are punting the problem and don't have any power or authority to do anything about it, this is exactly what killed the desktop app, your dev team ignored glaring flaws that many users brought forth and did nothing about those issues for years. However, they did implement features that no one was asking for and still do that practice to this day.
If anyone is wondering, the ability to create a credit memo is also missing from iPad (this is not iOS iPhone like the previous response missed the detail, iPad OS is technically different). Not only is the credit memo creation missing but the ability to match that to an outstanding balance is also missing. The enter payment that is cash or credit also just clicks but does nothing, you have to look up the client or the invoice each time to get a cash or check payment entered rather than where it should be since the regular button doesn't work.
This information may actually help people looking to use the iOS app since the reps here just refer you to the recycle bin that is the dev team feature requests. If any of you on the QB team want to actually do something, take these issues directly to your Dev team, don't instruct me to put it where it wont get looked at, thank you.
Since no one in your staff is capable of answering my second question, "What else is missing?" I went ahead and did my normal end of month cycle to see what hurdles I would run into and admittedly there weren't as many glaring issues which is surprising since your devs are missing the low hanging fruit of invoice basics. When doing banking for reconciliation here are the issues on a brand new 8th gen iPad running the current iPad iOS in landscape mode as you would expect with a bluetooth keyboard for data entry: its nearly impossible to click on the memo area, they make the target just a sliver and if you pull up to get better access to it, it often swings back down on you. This is an obvious situation where the devs aren't actually doing any bookkeeping themselves or run through a typical example end of month/period as they would have fixed that immediately. The overlay after matching or adding an entry stays on screen far too long and has no way to dismiss it so you can see the list of amounts to move on to your next one. The memo carry over from previous description is inconsistent and does not come up all the time either. When adding a new entry even without touching anything (and no pause), the entry will disappear and the list will scroll to the top forcing you to start over.
Now my predictions based on the devs and QB support previous history; none of the devs will read this or take this to heart and they won't begin doing example runs themselves to start fixing issues before deploying products like iOS Quickbooks apps which is all that was needed really to avoid these simple but frustrating and time sucking issues. These could be put into feature requests but they will be ignored there too and eventually, the move at Intuit will be to consider discontinuing the app instead of repairing it so it actually gets adopted. If Chrome ever fails, so too will Intuit because they have no way to deploy their software other than to be reliant on Alphabet to continue to exist. If Chrome ever has another leak, your entire client history will be leaked along with Chrome and Intuit is fully submissive to that fact.
There's was a sliver of hope with an iOS app update since I last posted until I actually started my bank reconciliation this month. Somehow, the devs update has made it WORSE?! You cannot even accept a bank rec line item any more, if you click accept it just shows that the button was pressed and sits there. Does Intuit have actual adults in the programming team? These aren't slave labor kids in India that just learned to program, right? How does none of this get checked, you literally cannot use the iOS app to do bank reconciliation right now when you could a month ago.
Other things still not fixed by devs despite pushing an update that broke everything: invoice pay and record payment still does not work, you tap the item and it looks as if it clicks and just stays there. You still have to go through clients, enter your client, select the invoice, then add payment to get to the screen then you have to tap back 4x to get to the next entry.
You still cannot create a credit memo or void invoice from the app
If you try to edit a new product or service it yields error abm.error.00000814.reason.ipad--do you guys realize you need to at least beta test this crap before you deploy it. How do you not even understand basic development?
All your comments have hit the nail on the head.
The glaringly obvious improvements that can be made which would probably take little efforts are consistently ignored. We get responses which clearly avoid and deviate from the initial question. Bottom line the attention to the customer is laughable when it comes to the actual content of the enquiry.
Apparentely there is a development team hard at work making constant improvements, ok then let us see those improvements and new features. Nothing new has happened for years. By the way, if you provide feedback, nothing gets done. It is akin to those '90's hotline numbers that you wait forever to get to an operator, you know the one where there is no operator at the other end.
To be honest we are still here so we have no right to complain and they don't need to do anything as many are sucked into the ecosystem despite the flaws. But I personally shall be making the transition to another platform in the future. Between Odoo (highly interesting and reasonably priced), Xero, Sage I'm sure there will be something with greener pastures. Or who knows, maybe better the devil you know than the one you don't.
I think it is only fair to raise the original issue here; how is it so hard to add a VOID function in the IPAD/IPHONE APP? QBO has soooo much potential to really be at the forefront if only it just put as much effort into improvements as it does when it's selling and taking your money.
It’s therapeutic to read your rant. I’m so thankful you’re at least trying to express how much they are missing the mark. Miles off. Hopefully they listen. I’ts abysmal. Just had to say thank you. I’m sure it’s a challenge to do all they do but I also talk to so many people who see these issues and scratch their head wondering how for such a large company. It does seem like they don’t read message boards or listen to any suggestions. I hope they prove me wrong for all our sake.
