With the invoice active select packing slip from the template drop down list. When your done re-select your custom template from the drop down list.

How do I create a packing slip for a product invoice?

Problem with creating Packing List from the Invoice window, is QB (Desktop) defaults to the Invoice template, which includes pricing. However, when I create (print) Packing List from Sales Order window, the packing list template is correct (no pricing).

How can I change the "defaults" to use the same template (without pricing) for Packing List from the Invoice window?

When shipping goods to customers, a packing slip is a document that contains item, quantity, and other vital shipping information. This can be used when creating Sales Order, not on invoices. Thus, we’re unable to set the packing slip as the default.

 

The Sales Order Fulfillment Worksheet provides you with a single spot to acquire insight and access to all components of the sales order fulfillment process.

Thank you for the answer and quick reply.  

However, our company, like a plethora of others, do not always create Sales Orders.

For ALL Direct Fulfillment orders, we only create an Invoice to relieve inventory. No SO is needed or created, as this is extra time, money and resources to create paperwork that is not required to process the order.  That said, a Packing List is required by Amazon, Lowe's, Home Depot.. et. all...

Additionally, double saving the Invoice is also a time consuming effort, we prefer to skip.

I have the contractors edition 2022 desktop.  I need to create a packing slip through a sales order is that possible, or must I create through an invoice, and if so, how do I do that?

Yes, you can make a packing slip through a sales order. However, the sales order must be open to be able to do this action. Here's how: 

 

  1. Go to the sales order. 
  2. Press the drop-down under the Print icon at the top. 
  3. Select Packing Slip when ready.

How do I create a packing slip for a product invoice?

Hello,

We use QBO and why is it that we can't produce a packing slip before we invoice? Our customers have 30 day

terms and pick up their product before we invoice.  Our prior software had no issue doing this but QBO doesn't have a way to do this operation.

I know it's beneficial to you to produce a packing slip before invoicing your customer, Tim.

 

Let me share additional insights into how packing slips work in QBO.

 

You can create and print a packing slip for a transaction you've already saved. It's also possible to create a packing slip during the creation process of the invoice transaction. Let me show you how:

 

  1. Navigate +New and select Invoice.
  2. Fill out the invoice details as needed.
  3. Click Print or Preview at the bottom of the invoice.
  4. Select Print packing slip.
  5. Click Print in the PDF viewer window or Download to save it to your computer to print later.

 

You can now close the PDF viewer and save or send your invoice as needed.

 

Also, you may consider looking for a third-party app that lets you create a packing slip without creating an invoice. Just go to the Apps menu or visit our QuickBooks App Center to find one that suits your business needs.
