QBO Team, Any updates on the Year-End Contribution Statement addition?
Hello there, @Anonymous.
Currently, the ability to create a Year-End Contribution Statement is not yet available. What you can do is to generate the Sales by Customer Detail report and send it to your Donors.
First, let's prepare the email template that will be used in sending the report to your Donors.
Once completed, here's how to generate the Sales by Customer Detail report:
To create a Statement, here's how:
That should do it! This will allow you to prepare a Year-End Contribution Statement.
Let me know if you have other question about generating and sending a report in QuickBooks Online. I'm always here to help.
Thanks this was helpful. I was able to create custom reports that satisfies my needs though it would be nice to have it as a standard report.
Delighted to hear again from you, @Anonymous.
It makes my day hearing that the steps I've provided works on your end. We'll be sure to keep enhancing and adding features to QuickBooks Online so it becomes an even more versatile tool for you.

Unfortunately this does not solve our problem.
The Sales by Customer Detail Report is still just one long report without page breaks and cannot be used as is. Each customer needs to be on its own page. In the desktop version you could just click to add in page breaks and it was beautiful. Now we have to export to excel and add our own page breaks which takes a really long time. Is there a place to add page breaks?
The Statement is separated by donor but is a generic page missing donation information that shows what they gave towards. It sends an amount and description of the product/service but doesn't list the actual item or class it was given towards. Is there a place to customize the transaction info listed on the statement?
Hi @mpritchett,
As of the moment, there isn't an option to add a page break and customize your transaction's detail in your statements and reports.
What you have been doing is the only workaround and the option we have for now. Exporting them as an Excel file allows you to customize and add details you want for your statements and reports.
But don't worry, I'll pass along your request to our product developers. This way, they'll know your need for a customizable report and transaction's detail for your customer's statement.
In addition, I'd recommend checking our QuickBooks Online Blog so you'll be updated with all the new features released in our software.
As always, you can visit our Help Articles page for QuickBooks Online if in case you need to learn some "How do I" steps.
It'll be always my pleasure to help if you have any other questions. I'll be keeping an eye for your response.
is there an easy way yet for us to print and mail or email Donor Year End Statements? Just needs the name, amount, what they gave toward and the date, and of course the total for the year.
Can someone please share how to do this? Year end will be here shortly.
Thank you
Hi @imattertoo,
You can create a statement for multiple customers at the same time. Let me share to you the steps:
In case you'd like to customize your statements, you can find the steps in this article: Create customer statements. It also includes answers to common questions about statements.
Leave me a comment below if you have any other questions in mind. I'll get back to you.
This is doable right on quickbooks online without downloading any additional apps. Year end donation letters can be printed by going to, Customers - select all and then Batch Action and click "Create Statements" then under Statement Type select "Transaction Statement" and enter the correct dates and then Preview Print!
To create year end Donor Letters, complete with details of the giving history and other required details like a disclaimer and your tax ID and such, use the BRC Donor Statements - QB Online
It can be highly customized and will create statements in batch for printing or emailing.
How do you enter your donations? I have just been entering as a deposit but these do not show up in the report.
I'm glad that you reached out to us, Kranmer.
I can help you record your donations. We can create an invoice or sales receipt to the donations that you've received. First, let's make sure to create a dedicated account for your donations. Here's how:
Then, we can customize the Transaction List by Customer Report to view the donations. Check out the steps below:
To save the current customization settings of your report, you can use the memorize feature.
Please tag me in the comment section if you have any other questions or require additional help in managing your donations. I'm always here and ready to help.
Why is this marked solved?? Not so! I have been doing the accounting for our church and the QBO statements have been inadequate. We can't even note that "no goods or services were provided in return...." The IRS requires that statement QBO doesn't allow is to comply. I've manually ran printed statements separately through the printer to add the blurb on the bottom of each page. Additionally, I can't remove the line and text that says "detach here and return with payment." Each year end make be thing about using different software. It's frustrating.
Hello there, Al521. I wouldn't like you to feel that way.
I'll ensure to take note of all the information you've shared here. Then, pass these along to our product engineers. Your suggestion might be given a chance to be included in the next product updates.

That works if each donation is recorded as a sale, but we are not doing that. We are just splitting out each deposit into each individual donor. We can customize a report for each individual (one at a time) but that's not efficient. Most other programs offer a one button solution for creating donor statements, not hours of creating individual reports. If you have a solution, please email [email address removed]. Thank you.
How do you get the entity's Tax ID to print on the statement? I've tried to use Custom Form Styles, but it only lets you edit invoices, estimates or sales receipts. Unbelievable!
Please HELP!
Thank you for posting in the Community, @Hali Cleveland.
Currently, it's unavailable to include the entity's Tax ID on the statement. I'll take this one as feedback and submit it to our product engineers to boost your QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience. There they can test this feature with a due process and implement it if engineers approve its usability.
You can use this video article on how to modify templates and apply templates to sales forms: Customize your invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.
You can always get back to this post if there's anything else. I'm always here to help you. Have a good one!
I sure hope these changes will be made and soon. I feel like I've gone backwards with this product for our needs.
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but last year I discovered how to email annual giving statements to my donors. In QBO, go into your Sales > Donors and click on the "Batch actions" button and click "Create statements". This is basically like generating a report for a date period, but the batch statements allows you to email individual statements to each donor and rather than messing with a letter template, you create an email body text that is included with every email/statement sent out.
Be aware that QB Online's statements are not valid donor letters. They do not comply with the rules for donor letters / statements in several ways.
For real donor statements, see BRC Donor Statements - QB Online
Any Update on this? The statements are not customizable. This is an easy task in Quickbooks desktop.
Hi there, ijsamuel.
Currently, we don't have any updates with customizing the statements in QuickBooks Online. This feature request has been forwarded to our engineers.
You can visit the QuickBooks Blog to see the new feature releases.
If you have any additional suggestions, please let us know in the comments. Thanks.
That link does not work - can anyone post the slides from Greggs talk at QB Connect on how to use QB for donations
thanks
Greetings, @thewellhop.
I'd be delighted to guide you in revisiting the presentations during the break out sessions in the last QuickBooks Connect event. Let's get started!

Has there been any advancements in coming up with a way to create donation/contribution statements that was not discussed here? We want to mail our statements not email them. We are currently paying for and using a whole other program because QB has not been able to supply us with what we need. It is sad that we have to pay double because this program has not been updated in literally years for non-profits.
If this has indeed not been updated as of the end of 2020, after folks have been asking since at least 2017, we may have to look into a new software for our Nonprofit accounting, donor tracking and payroll needs.
