Hello there, @DeadwoodAl. I'll be glad to guide you in removing the accounts that are being tied to 1099 NEC.
When preparing your Federal 1099, the accounts used for the 1099 are sourced from your Chart of Accounts. In your case, you can omit the accounts that are tied to 1099 NEC before adding a new GL account. To do so, follow the steps below:
- Open your QBDT file.
- Click on Edit, then Preferences.
- Tap on Tax: 1099, then go to the Company Preferences section.
- Choose Yes beside Do you file 1099 forms?
- Click on If you're ready to prepare your 1099s, including mapping accounts, you can do it here link to open the 1099 mapping.
- Hit Yes to confirm the action.
- Select Show all accounts from the dropdown menu.
- Look for your income accounts.
- Set Omit these payments from 1099 under the Apply payments to this 1099 box.
- Click on Save and Close.
