Just tried to print out 1099 NEC for 2021 in my 2022 version of QB's desktop and it is only showing 2 to a page when the tax forms have 3 to a page. Is QB's working on fixing this issue?
Hi there, @sandyburkart.
I have some information about printing the 3-page1099-NEC forms. At the moment, we don't have a specific time frame when the printing option will be available in QuickBooks. I recommend turning on the Automatic Updates. This process will keep your data file updated to the latest release when they're available.
Here's how to do it:
Once new updates on the program is available, you'll be prompted, accept the option. For details about the updates, check out this guide: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.
About the submission date, this form should be filed with the IRS, on paper or electronically, and sent to recipients by February 1, 2021.
I'm also attaching this link to help you manage your taxes: Year-end guide for QuickBooks Desktop.
Feel free to reply if you have other questions or concerns with 1099 forms. Thanks for coming to the Community, cheers to a grand and successful New Year ahead.
hi
I have QB PRO 2018 for the first part of 2021, then we updated to the current version.. I cant seem to print the 1099-NEC forms from the 2018 version. The current forms have 3 per page and QB PRO 2018 has 2 per page.. How do i go about printing the needed 1099 NEC forms for the beginning of the year
Hello, @makers.
I recognize how important it is for you to add the 3 per page format for 1099-NEC forms in QuickBooks.
This can save time so you no longer have to enter the information manually. For now, you can follow my peer's recommendation, @ShiellaGraceA, to set an automatic update in QuickBooks until the new 1099-NEC is available.
If you want to submit a 3-page 1099-NEC form early, I encourage reviewing using the 2-page 1099-NEC information you see in the meantime and checking the 3-page 1099-NEC form from the IRS website. That said, you're able to get the details needed to complete the 3-page 1099 NEC form and submit them by hand.
Here's how to print your 1099s:
You can also check the guides presented by the IRS: Instructions for Form 1099-NEC.
If you have additional questions or run into any roadblocks about filing 1099-NEC, please don't hesitate to reach out through this forum. We're eager to help you with this.
Thank you, I just wanted to be sure the PRO 2018 desktop version would receive an update
I cannot believe you issue 3 vendor 1099's and program to print a 2 vendor form.
This is ridiculous that I can only buy a 3-up form from Intuit and the software doesn't even support it. What does it look like for me to make the February 1st, 2022 deadline? I cannot seem to buy 1099NEC in 2 up anywhere for 2021.
This response is simply NOT ACCEPTABLE. I have 30 clients, and 500 1099's to print. I usually start printing Jan 1st. This response makes me feel like we better go ahead and find a 3rd party software to print the 3-up 1099 forms! You simply say "We do NOT know when". Are we to trust you????? This is not the first time Quickbooks has left us up in the air to fend for ourselves. NOT AT ALL HAPPY ABOUT THIS! WHEN will the update come out? ARE YOU WORKING ON IT AT ALL!
Hi everyone.
I understand you need to print the 1099-NEC forms since it’s time for tax filing. And with that, I have good news to share with all of you. You should now be able to print 3 to a page for 1099-NEC. All you need to do is make sure you are on the latest releases with the appropriate Critical Fixes. I hope all will be happy about this.
Here’s how:
Once the update is finished, I suggest closing and reopening QuickBooks Desktop. Then click Yes to install the updates and restart your computer.
That will enable you to print 3 to a page for 1099 NEC in QuickBooks Desktop.
Please leave a comment if you have additional questions or concerns with printing a 3 to a page 1099 NEC. I'll be around to help you out. Take care and more power to your businesses!
Why can't I align the documents without getting an error report? I cannot print them aligned correctly.
Hi
Just tried your fix and followed the instructions. My Enterprise solutions did not update the 1099 new format. What next??
Thanks
PJ
I have reset & updated 4 times now!!!
service messages & critical fixes keeps saying “nothing new downloaded”
what can I do ??? 2/form still on preview for 1099 nec
THe critical fixes keep erroring out. The error number is 15240. How do you fix this?
Same problem I am having with 2018 Premier Desktop (Contractor Edition). I have followed all of the steps numerous times now. Nothing new to update. It does not change, still only prints a two part form!!
I hear your sentiments, everyone. I'm here to make it up all to you by ensuring you'll be able to print your 1099-NEC in 3 pages.
The error 15240 means the payroll update wasn't successful. Rest assured I've got the steps to help you get around the error.
To begin with, you'll need to run QuickBooks as an Administrator. To do so, right-click on the QuickBooks icon on your Desktop, then select Run as Administrator.
If the issue persists, verify the system date and time settings:
If the same thing happens, proceed to Solution 3 to 5 if needed in this article: Error 15240.
Once you're all set, update your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to the latest release and download the newest taxable to ensure a smooth process. Then, you can now print your 1099s seamlessly.
In case you run into some issues in printing your 1099s, you can utilize this resource on how to fix it: Resolve printing issues.
I'm all ears if you all have any follow-up questions about printing your 1099s in QBDT. Please feel free to add them in your response and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Keep safe everyone!
still nothing happens. No critical updates installed.
how do we get it to print?
Still nothing happens. No critical updates found
How do we get them to print?
How can you not have a trime frame for QuickBooks 2022? This is our busiest time of year with a deadline of end of the month, we can't wait until last minute to process 1099s for clients. I tried the update you suggested but it did not work for 2022
I have done the update but it still will not print the 1099-NEC forms. Won't even do a preview. How do I fix this and print these forms?
These fixes are NOT working. I am not getting the payroll error message so that did not help me. I did do those suggestions as well-"just in case".
I have done the update, it shows new files installed for everything other than service messages and critical fixes-those both show "nothing new downloaded." I have exited QB, restarted my computer. NO change, it still wants to print a 2 part 1099.
Has QB released the update for ALL versions of the software or only for some?? I have Premier Contractor Edition 2018 Desktop.
Hi JasroV
Thanks very much for your response. I don't have payroll turned on in QB (because I don't need it). 1099-NECs are a function of non-employees, so why would I need to address a payroll error?
I just updated by 2019 version and I still have 2-part NEC printing.
Sorry if I misunderstood anything.
Replying to update for 3 per page for 1099. I just updated on 1/10/2022 and still do not have the new format for printing 1099's. Why? I have Premier 2020.
Hi everyone!
I understand that you need to print the 1099-NEC forms 3 to a page. Allow me to assist you and share some details about it.
Let's first make sure that your QuickBooks Desktop is on the latest release that's required so you can print 1099-NEC forms in the right format. Simply press F2 on your keyboard so you can verify it.
If not, please re-update your QuickBooks Desktop, then process 1099's again.
If the same things happen, please reach out to our Support Team so they can further investigate it. Follow these steps:
I also added these links if you need more help in preparing your 1099s:

I did this, I am at R3 78 and now I can't print NEC's at all, or preview them. I will need to call customer support I guess
I have done all these things and still cannot print 3 to a page. I specifically purchased thru Intuit to avoid problems and yet here we are! I need to print my 1099s. I called support. What a joke. They had no idea what I was talking about - 25 minutes wasted.
