export from QBO to procnnect

Hi @allisonstitcher,

I'll answer this query for you.

This specific feature you stated above is exclusive to our QuickBooks Online Accountant version. It has the Prep for taxes tool that allows the accountant to export a client's tax info from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to ProConnect Tax Online.

Feel free to submit feedback to our product developers if you want to have this feature available in QBO. Rest assured, our product developers go through any feedback submitted by our users.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.

Post a reply if you have other questions about QBO. I'll be around to help you out.

export from QBO to procnnect

I understand this is a QBO accountant version feature. I am a QBO accountant. However, I tried to follow this process yesterday as I did last year and it would not show up. It gave me the option to export to csv but not to proconnect.

Hi there, @allisonstitcher.

You've got me here to ensure that you'll be able to export your tax data from QuickBooks Online to ProConnect.

The option to export to ProConnect should be visible. Since this isn't your case, I recommend accessing your account on a private window and export it from there. Doing this helps us determine if the issue has something to do with the stored cache files on your browser.

You may use these shortcut keys to launch the window:

  • Ctrl + Shift + N for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Mozilla Firefox
  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Microsoft Edge
  • Command + Shift + N for Safari

If the option to export to ProConnect is now showing up, you can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Clearing these files, QuickBooks will load a new version of everything displayed on the page. It eliminates the unnecessary data, which leads to odd issues like the one that you've encountered.

I also suggest running the Health Checkup Tool. It is used to check multiple aspects of the browser to ensure the application runs seamlessly.

I'm sharing this reference that you can use in preparing your tax data for ProConnect: Prepare and export your clients' accounts with Prep for taxes.

However, if doing this doesn't make a difference, I suggest reaching out to our Customer Care Team. They have the necessary tools that can help check the reason behind this matter.

You can contact them by following these steps below:

  1. Click on Help at the top menu bar.
  2. Hit on the Contact Us button.
  3. Enter a brief description of the issue in the What can we help you with? box.
  4. Press on Let's talk.
  5. Select on Get a callback.
  6. Key in your contact details, then tap on Confirm my call.

If there's anything else that you need about this or with QuickBooks, let me know. I'm always here to help you out.  Thanks for coming, and have a good one!

Is it that you just can't export the accountant's books to proconnect because when I look at a client I can, but on mine I can't

Hello there, @allisonstitcher.

You're already on the right track in exporting your client's tax info from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to ProConnect. Let me share further details about this.

It isn't your QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) account that'll be exported to ProConnect, it's your client's QBO details or books when preparing their taxes for the season. Each of your clients has their dedicated Prep for taxes page. Here are the two ways to get to Prep for taxes:

  • If you're in QBOA, go to the Clients tab. Find your client and select Prep for taxes from the Actions column.
  • If you’re working in a client’s QBO account, select Prep for taxes from the Accountant Tool drop-down.

After that, you'll have to review your client's accounts, make adjusting entries (as needed), and then map and export tax forms. For the step-by-step guide, you can refer to this article: Use Prep for taxes to map and export your clients’ tax info.

Also, I'm adding this article to further guide you in managing your client's account using QBOA: QuickBooks Help Articles. It includes topics about data security, advanced accounting, and banking, to name a few. You can click the + More topics button to view other selections.

Let me know how it goes in the comments below. I'm just around to help if you have other concerns about exporting and managing client's tax info in QuickBooks. Take care always.

As the QBO Accountant, I am trying to export to proconnect for my firm's return but the option is not there. Not a client's books, my books as the Accountant. I was able to do it last year.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community, rritterMurrieta. I'll be sharing troubleshooting steps to ensure you can utilize the option to export to proconnect. Also, make sure that you'll be pointed to the right support team to assist you further on this matter.

Since you've mentioned that you're using QBO Accountant, the option to export to ProConnect should be possible and viewed in your account. Since the option is not there, it might be the cache full of history and temp files that caused unexpected behaviors. I suggest logging in to your QBOA account using a private browser. This is to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue, and private browsing doesn't store local files or cache.

Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using:

  • For Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

If it works in incognito, you'll have to clear the cache of your regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. If the steps above didn't work, use another supported browser as an alternative.

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment and be able to deeply investigate the cause of why the option to export to proconnect is missing.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to view steps on how you can download a CSV for other tax preparation software: Prepare and export your clients' accounts with Prep for taxes.

It'll always be my pleasure to help if you've got questions other than exporting to ProConnect. Let me know using the Reply option below and I'll surely be around to help, rritterMurrieta. Take care!

Did this person's question ever get solved, I have literally the exact same problem that he is describing here, but see no resolution on this thread. Just links to other places and then support. Thank you.

Hi Bryan,

Thank you for joining the conversation. Firms don't have the same data export options as clients do. Let me route you to ProConnect team so they can provide options to export your firm's data. Please check this out: How to contact ProConnect for help.

On the other hand, there is a dedicated Community page for ProConnect users, where you can post questions such as this one. They are more capable of answering questions about tax preparations.

Feel free to go back to this thread if you have more questions in mind. Take care and have a good one!
