Importing QuickBooks to TurboTax

Hi there, @DeeCL.

I acknowledge that managing taxes can be stressful, and it's crucial to ensure that everything is handled correctly. Allow me to share some insights about this matter.

When importing your information from QuickBooks to TurboTax, it's crucial to know that the unpaid quarterly taxes may not be carried over automatically. With this, it's important to track and pay your estimated quarterly taxes separately to avoid penalties and interest. You can pay these unpaid quarterly taxes in the program. To pay these unpaid taxes, you can start by knowing when the federal estimated quarterly tax payments are due. You may refer to the IRS website for the official dates. You should also check if your state requires estimated quarterly tax payments.

Next, you'll have to get your federal quarterly tax estimates. You can follow the steps below to do so:

  1. Go to the Taxes menu.
  2. Select the Quarterly tab.
  3. Select the quarter you need estimates for.

Afterward, you can make and record the payment by following Steps 3 to Step 4 of this article: Pay federal estimated quarterly taxes in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

On the other hand, you'll need to review and enter all the necessary information in TurboTax before filing your taxes. It's crucial to ensure that any unpaid quarterly taxes are reflected accurately and addressed to avoid potential penalties and interest. You may refer to this article for the detailed steps on how to import your tax info to TurboTax: Send QuickBooks Self-Employed tax info to TurboTax.

Furthermore, you may refer to the QuickBooks Self-Employed annual tax guide, which provides information on tracking income, expenses, and tax details, as well as tips for getting ready to file your taxes.
