I e-filed several 1099's NEC with incorrect amounts. The IRS has accepted my forms. How do I amend these 1099 forms and e-file corrected copies through QuickBooks Online?
Hi Aaron,
I'm here to help how you can submit an amended 1099.
While the option to submit a corrected 1099 is unavailable in QuickBooks, you'll have to file the form manually by sending it to the IRS. Here's how:
Furthermore, I've added here an article that has detailed instructions for submitting an amended 1099 form: IRS Instructions.
Don't hesitate to get back to the forum whenever you have concerns about submitting the 1099.
Thanks for responding. Let me clarify my situation. The IRS has recently changed their rules to require that quantities of more than 10 Forms 1099 must be e-filed. Paper filing via mail is no longer acceptable for 11 or more copies. If corrections are needed on 1099s that were e-filed, those corrections also need to be e-filed. I e-filed more than 10 Forms 1099. I now need to e-file corrections for more than 10 Forms 1099.
According to QuiokBooks Online, the ability to correct e-filed 1099 forms in QBO will be available soon. What is the release date for this feature? I need to know what to communicate to my clients.
Hello there, @Aaron Burk.
As of the moment, we still don't have an update on when the feature to e-file corrected 1099 will be available in QuickBooks Online.
Thus, I recommend contacting our Customer Care team to follow up on an update about the feature availability.

I was told by one of your help staff a couple of weeks ago, that I could send an amended 1099 through Quickbooks on February 2nd (or later). Then I see this string saying that you can't do it yet. That's not okay. I've told my staff member the good news: that the correction could be launched TODAY, February 2, 2024, from Quickbooks.

Hello Greg,
Thanks for posting your question on the community thread. I'm happy to provide some more information about 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC tax forms.
Regarding the ability to correct 1099 forms within QuickBooks, the feature is planned to be available sometime after January 2024. However, the exact date hasn't been set yet.
In the meantime, if you need to amend a 1099 form that has already been filed with the IRS, I'd recommend manually submitting a corrected form by following the steps that my colleague Adrian_A previously outlined.
For additional info, please check out this resource: Correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks.
Please feel free to add any other 1099-related questions you might have right here on this thread. I monitor it regularly and will help however I can.
I am having the exact same issue!! Have you received a different response or answer??
Are there any updates on this topic? I see corrections are available as of Feb 14, but I've spoken with two QB support staff members and neither were able to assist in correcting the amount on my e-filed 1099.

Hi - The investigation ID I was provided is the following: INV-99688. My contractor/vendor information after I click on "Correct" 1099 is not being pulled into step 2 "Review Recipient". It says "You don't have any vendors that meet that criteria." I have two contractors/vendors waiting on the corrected 1099. I have called a few times and I just keep getting the reply that it is being worked on.
Hi, I am still not able to correct the 1099-NEC form for one of my vendors. Once I get to step 2 "Review Recipient", It says "You don't have any vendors that match that criteria". Please advise when will that be fixed. My vendor needs their form corrected before their tax deadline.

It is now MAY of 2024 ... where & how do users of Quick Books Online amend a 2023 1099 NEC form that was initially e-filed? Since initial form was e-filed, the corrected form must be e-file as well but I cannot find where to do this in QBO?
I know some steps to file an amendment here in QuickBooks Online (QBO), HAC.
When correcting a 1099 form that you've e-filed here in QBO, you'll need to ensure first that it's accepted by the IRS since you can't change or correct a rejected form. After seeing that it indicates as Accepted, you can now correct your form by following these steps:
Step 1: See the status of your filings
Step 2: File a correction or amendment
To learn further regarding the shared steps above, you can see this website: Correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks.
