manual payroll tax payment

When I enter Taxes and then Payroll taxes and then after selecting a payroll tax to pay manually the dropdown selection for the bank to draw the money from does not work. It used to work before the latest update. The payment will withdraw from the QBO default account no matter what I select in the bank dropdown selection. What is the bank dropdown selection for if I cant select the bank to withdraw form in QuickBooks?

Hi there, @tomkap.

Thanks for coming and posting your concerns today. When you experience an unexpected behavior while using QuickBooks, it could mean that your cache and cookies are already full and need to be cleared.

I want to make sure you're able to select your desired bank account in paying your payroll tax. Let's confirm this issue by using a private or incognito window.

To do this, open a regular browser. Then, press the following shortcut keys below:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox)
  • Control Option (Safari)

Log in to your QBO account and try to select the bank to pay your taxes manually. If it works, let's troubleshoot your default browser by clearing its cache and cookies to restore the system and eliminate older data that causes performance issues.

However, if the issue persists, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.

I'd also appreciate it if you can provide any specific error message you received when doing so. This way, I can quickly check our records for any investigation.

I think its a bug I tried your suggestions  and used Microsoft Edge and Chrome icagnito with the same results. My accountant tried it on her computer also with the same results. It defaults to the account in the settings not the account you select from the dropdown menu.

Your suggestions did not work. I cleared the cache and used the browsers incognito

I tried on Microsoft Edge and Chrome and I even had my accountant in another office use it and it still would not poet to the selected bank account

I did a chat online with specialist who told me basically to ignore the bank dropdown list on the tax payment screen since it doesn't work and  change the bank account in the payroll settings when I run the payroll and then change the account  back again when I do the taxes. Very cumbersome for something that used to work for years.

Can you fix this/

where it shows what tax payments are due and the button says "pay" it doesnt show me dollar amount. Why would I hit pay if it isnt showing a dollar amount? how do I know what that is? Why is everything in this program all over the place? it is the most full of nonsense program I have ever seen..nothing efficient or common sense about it. The last thing that comes to mind with it is efficient, useful, time saver, none of those words apply

I acknowledge that you want to determine payroll tax due amounts before filing them to ensure accuracy and prevent related issues onward, djzap1. Let's review your tax liability information so we can perform appropriate troubleshooting if necessary. Allow me to guide you through the process.

In QuickBooks Online Payroll, you can generate different payroll reports to verify how much you need to file. Your liabilities are calculated based on the paycheck you've run.

Here's how:

  1. Head to Reports from the left pane.
  2. Enter and select Payroll Tax Liability or Payroll Summary from the search field.
  3. Choose the appropriate date associated with the due taxes.
  4. Review the amount you need to file for that specific period.

Once you've confirmed the amount in the reports and the Payroll Tax Center says otherwise, we can utilize a private window to prevent unusual behaviors caused by a corrupted cache file. You can refer to these keyboard shortcuts depending on your browser:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Shift + Ctrl + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N

When it works, clear the cache from your regular browser to refresh the website's preferences. If the same issue occurs, consider using a system's supported browser for the best and most secure experience.

On the other hand, you might want to scan this material for detailed instructions on reviewing your past forms and payments: View your previously filed tax forms and payments.
