I have an out-of-state employee in South Carolina. Taxes are paid QUARTERLY but in my South Carolina Tax Info page, only MONTHLY and SEMI-WEEKLY are options.
On the PAYROLL TAX page, the appear as "Past Due" monthly.
How do I get QUARTERLY added to the dropdown "How Often Do You Pay Your Taxes"?
It's my top priority to assist you in setting up the correct payment frequency for South Carolina taxes, @mdwyatt.
QuickBooks Online (QBO) stays compliant with state taxes and regulations. To address this further, I suggest contacting the state agency/authority in South Carolina (SC) for further guidance on accurately reporting and paying SC taxes.
After receiving the schedule from SC, select the appropriate option under the South Carolina tax info window.
However, if the state confirms the need to pay your taxes quarterly, adjust the schedule in QuickBooks to the nearest pay frequency, which is monthly. In that case, you must pay and file the taxes outside of QuickBooks. Afterward, track the payments in our system manually.
You can discover more about tracking tax payments for prior tax periods or payments made outside of QBO Payroll from this article: Record tax payments made outside of QuickBooks Online Payroll.
