I appreciate that you've updated the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Payroll to its latest release 22401.

Our product engineers are still working on a fix for the ongoing investigation (INV-97472), specifically about the error when filing the Virginia Unemployment Form. Since you encounter the same error after updating the software, I suggest manually filing through the State for now. I also encourage contacting our Payroll Support team to add you to the list of affected users. This way, you'll be notified once there's a fix or if the issue has been resolved. 

1. Go to the Help menu and click QuickBooks Help.
2. Select Contact Us.
3. Provide a brief description of your concern, and click Continue.
4. Log in to your Intuit account, select Continue, then Continue with my account.
5. Enter the single-use code you received in your email and hit Continue.
6. Choose between Chat with us or Have us call you.

I did report the stuck 941 4th quarter report to the tech team.  They screen shared QB on my computer and saw that the confirmation message that the report was sent to Intuit.  It's still stuck there as of 1/7.  When they checked on their end, they don't see my 941 4th quarter in the Intuit system.  So they added this issue to the one we are all having with the VEC 4th Q.

I did the complete update first under the help tab     Once that was done, I did the payroll undate under employee tab.     And it worked for all my companies that I do payroll for.

I updated my desktop pro plus 2024 and payroll to version 22401 on 5th, at that time it continue to have issues but when I check on the 6th, the issue where QB thinks i am filing too early/too late went away and was able to file.   

I am not sure what QB did to fix the issues for my case.

I was on 22401, but updated again to see if there were any other payroll updates, and it did update something, but stayed on version 22401.  So I'm not sure what changed, but I was able to get my VEC report to file this morning.  Unfortunately, still have both my 941 and 940 hung up at Intuit, so thank you for reporting that issue again.  Fingers crossed this gets resolved this week.

I am having the same issue cannot file quarter for unemployment definitely is a QuickBooks issue. Please look into this so we can file our paperwork on time

I was finally able to get the VEC report to go through, 941 still hung up waiting on Intuit to submit. I am about to attempt the 940 so I'll report back tomorrow if it is hung up as well. Thanks to all for the updates!

Hi, I wanted to update everyone and notify the Quickbooks support team that while the quarterly VA unemployment (UI QTD) report error issue has been resolved and the agency has accepted for me...The federal forms 941 (quarterly) and 940 (annual) are still hung up, showing submitted to Intuit for processing, but Intuit has still not sent to the agency. This seems to be an issue with just the federal forms. Why isn't Intuit submitting these to the agency? It has been 6 days since I submitted the 941 to Intuit, and I submitted the 940 yesterday and normally Intuit would've submitted it to the agency by now.

Quickbooks support team: please notify us if/that this is an issue and when will you be submitting these federal forms to the tax agency for processing?

The 4th Q VA unemployment (UI QTD)  has NOT been solved for me as of 1/9/2024.  I am doing all of the updates and recommended procedures.

Also, my 4th Q 941 is still hung up with Intuit and not submitted to IRS.  I submitted the report on 1/2/2024.  Tech help seems to not be as aware of the issue with the 941 reports getting hung up.  I hope everyone will check the status of their submissions and see it they have made it to the tax agency and report any stuck forms.

I dread doing the annual reports, what kind of issues with happen with that?

You'll usually get an email confirmation within 24-48 hours after submitting your forms. Since it's been 6 days, I suggest reaching out to our Customer Support team. They can help you check your account in a secure environment using their tools and help you resolve them.

2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help. 
   
3. Provide some information about this concern in the search box.
4. Click the Contact Us link at the bottom of the window.

I still show version 22401 also but I then went under the help tab and updated my quickbooks and had to restart my computer.   Then I went under the payroll tab and updated again and it fixed my issue.

I installed the update and it's still not working.  When you go to submit the 4th Quarter 2023 Virginia Unemployment Return it has a dialog box that says Federal ID number...This return will be rejected because it is being efiled too late.  The agency does not accept electronic filings of this form before the start of the 3rd month of the quarter and later than the due date..  It's a problem with the software as we are trying to file 12/31/23 which is due 1/31/24.  I have never seen this issue in a quarter before.  I've called support twice and no one seems to have a clue that this is happening.  

Did you do both updates?    The one under the Help tab AND the one under the Payroll Tab?     I had to do the tab under the help tab first and restarted my computer and then logged in again and then did the update under the payroll tab.   I closed out and restarted and then went to submit form for the VA Unemployment and the EIN number was no longer in RED which is what shows that there is error.     Hope that works for you

As @Zonnie0301 mentioned, you have to update both QuickBooks Desktop software and Tax table in order to resolve the issue.

It appears a few people have had a fix for the VEC report, some have not. 

I use QuickBooks Enterprise Contractor 24 on the Right Network and was just talking to their tech team.  Apparently if you are on the Right Network, you may not get program updates until weekends.  I was told this is usual unless Intuit contacts them to say they have something important to push something through right away. 

Is anyone else who is still having problems filing VEC (UI QTD) on the Right Network?

I keep getting emails from various people (AileneA QuickBooks Team) stating this error has been resolved, but it has not as of 5:42 on 1/9/24.  My client is on Enterprise  Solutions 23.0 and is using QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll.  It is up to date on all updates, the client has restarted her computer and the program multiple times and yet we are still getting the error.  She has tried to call support several times this week yet we are still not able to file the 12/31/23 Virginia Unemployment Return.  Obnoxious comments about manually filing it online is not an option as they have over 60 employees.  I called support on behalf of my client yesterday since I'm a certified pro advisor, yet they would not talk to me because my name isn't on their license.  Intuit needs to get this fixed now.  

It's 5:49 on 1/9/24 and this is still not working for one of my clients.  Wish we could get a support person who knows what the problem is and how to fix it.

I've just spent quite a bit of time talking to 2 persons with QB tech support that insist that the problem with filing the VEC (UI QTD) forms has not been solved or closed, that it is still very much an ongoing investigation.  I read them your message and they say it's not accurate.

Hi Susan.   I am a user of QuickBooks Pro Enhanced and had the Virginia Unemployment error.    Once it was fixed I had to first update thru the HELP tax and restart my computer.   Once I restarted my computer, I had to then go to the PAYROLL TAB and click on updates and did it there and my problem was fixed.  Have you done both updates in that order:     Update thru the HELP tab and update thru the Employee tab?
