How can we take our account off of hold?

A warmest welcome to the Community, biktek. I can provide you with an explanation of why your QuickBooks Payments or direct deposit are on hold.

If you notice a payment on hold in QuickBooks Payments, it means that we need to review it to ensure your funds are valid. You can see if the payments are on hold by signing in to the Merchant Service Center and checking the status:

  1. Sign in to the Merchant Service Center.
  2. On the homepage, click Activities & Reports and then select Deposits.
  3. Choose the date range in the Date field.
  4. Click Search.

If the word Withheld appears in the Method section, it means that your payment is temporarily on hold. We're reviewing it further and will notify you via email. Please refer to this article for more information: Why are my funds on hold?

However, if we're managing your payroll and tax payments, your account may be placed on hold if a debit is returned due to bank account issues. To get this resolved, you can check for an email from us that states why your account has been put on hold. You can search for a message with any of the following subject lines:

  • Important: Direct Deposit Payment Unsuccessful.  Urgent Issue with the Payroll Account for [Business Name]
  • Intuit Payroll Services Action Required: Payment Request for Failed Payroll Debit
  • Intuit Payroll Services Action Required: Partial Payment Received
  • Important: Tax Payment Unsuccessful. Urgent Issue with the Payroll Account for [Business Name]

To resolve the non-sufficient funds (NSF) hold, please check your email for the return code and select it below.

For complete guidance, you can refer to this article: Resolve a non-sufficient fund (NSF) hold on your payroll service.

Furthermore, this article can be helpful if you want to learn how to deal with pay schedules: Set up and manage payroll schedules.

We're always here to help if you need additional assistance with an account on hold or any QuickBooks-related questions. Take care.
