How do i make a rule when adding an entry from bank ledger?

Hi there, @paintbest.

I'm here to ensure you're able to make bank rules in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You can make the bank rule by going to the Banking tab in QBO. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to the Banking tab on the left side.
  2. Choose Rules, then click New Rule
  3. Complete the required data on the Create rule page.
  4. Tap Save

After that, QuickBooks automatically applies your rules to transactions in the For Review tab. To check the categorized data, please click the Recognized button. It also adds a "Rule" label to the transaction.

See the sample screenshot below for your reference:

From there, please hit Add to transfer the transactions directly into an account in QuickBooks. But if you turn on the Automatically add to my books option on the Rules window the data will directly go to your books. You can review the transaction in your Chart of Accounts associated with that transactions.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Accounting tab on the left side.
  2. Click the View register perpendicular to that specific account.
  3. Examine all the data.

For more details about the process, visit this article: Setup bank rules to categorize online banking transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, please browse these pages underneath regarding handling rules, bank transactions, and other topics.

Notify me if you have an additional question about bank rules. I'm always here ready to help. Take care.
