But I was not specific enough. The accountant and firm in question initialized QBO for me. There is no option under Action to delete them. Nor to remove them as one of my two accounting firms.
I also think they set up QBO to run billing through their firm and not directly to me.
I am thinking the will require intervention on the back end by a QBO admin
Hi there, @xerky.
Thanks for simplifying your concern. I know how you wanted to remove your previous accountant so you can add the new one.
Since your subscription is under the accountant's wholesale billing, you'll need to contact your accountant and ask him/her to remove your company from wholesale billing so you'll have full control of your account.
Aside from the resource shared by my peer above, you may also send this article to your accountant: Manage your wholesale billing plan and wholesale billing clients. It includes steps on how to remove your company from their wholesale billing plan.
Feel free to message again if you have additional questions, @xerky. I'm always around to help in any way I can.
If your current accountant is refused to transfer the Master Admin role and you are still able to login as a Company Admin, you may have 2 options to claim your data.
Unfortunately, no.
The accountant had set of my QBO as a sub account under who their own.
I could not remove them or their login.
The only solution was to begin from scratch, create a new QBO subscription.
I am in the process of retrieving the records now and then I will server all relations with the first accountant.
I am trying to add an accountant who had had access to my account once before, but does not currently. However, when I complete the information the SAVE button does not turn green for me. Is this because she was in the system once before? How do I regain access for her?
Hello there, @scifidutchie. I can help you add your previous accountant to QuickBooks Online (QBO) seamlessly.
The stored cache can sometimes cause unusual browser behavior. To verify, let's perform some basic troubleshooting steps.
Login to your QuickBooks Online account first using an incognito window. Here are the shortcut keys to open it:
If you're able to add your accountant, then you'll have to clear your regular browser cache. You can also try using another supported browser.
If the issue persists, then you can delete your accountant and re-invite again. Here's how:
Once deleted, you're good to add a new one.
You can also check out this article to learn more about how you can manage accountant users in QBO.
Please feel free to comment back if you have more questions about adding your accountant to QBO. I'm just around to help. Keep safe!
Hi xerky,
Many accountants consider the quickbooks file itself to be their intellectual property and charge a fee to release it. The data within the file, however, is theoretically yours.
If it were me, I would wait until the year was more or less closed, then I would download as much as I could from the file, including current reports, then ask the accountant about turning over control of the file and see what they would charge to do so (if anything).
Consider the effort required to set it all up again when you hear their price.
Good luck!
I am the accountant for a client. My login is showing up both under regular users as Primary Admin and in Accounting Firms. Not only is there no option showing up for me to transfer primary admin to someone else, but I am unable to make any edits to the Accounting Firms (there is no dropdown next to the various accounting firms) while I do have the ability to delete regular users.
I'd like to delete one of the accounting firms and also transfer primary admin rights.
Thanks,
Ashley
Hello there, Ashley.
Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to rule out the possibility of a browser issue and to get you to delete accountant users and transfer primary admin rights in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
If you're the primary admin, you can manage all users and have access to every part of your QuickBooks account. Since you're one but unable to delete accountant users and transfer primary admin rights, there could be an issue with your access using your default browser.
Your browser saves files to load websites faster on your next visit. But over time, it'll get outdated, which can cause errors and performance issues using QBO.
To fix this, you can perform some troubleshooting steps. Start by pulling up your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:
Once signed in (as primary admin), go to Settings or the Gear icon and select Manage users to delete accountant users and transfer primary admin rights.
If you're able to do so, return to your default browser and clear its cache. This will refresh the system and remove older data that causes viewing and performance issues. However, if this matter continues, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.
In case the issue persists after performing the troubleshooting steps above, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care team. They can securely pull up your account and check your access so you can complete your tasks accordingly.
Also, there are a maximum number of things, like accounts or users, you can have at one time in QuickBooks, depending on your subscription. If you wish to know more about usage limits in QBO, please see this article: Learn about usage limits in QuickBooks Online.
Keep me posted in the comments if you have other concerns about managing users in QBO. I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, Ashley.
