1) Why should I tell you who I am? Do you think you're being just a bit demanding?
2) I think this is probably a really bad idea. Presumably once I sign in, then the file will stay signed in (nothing is explained, so it's anyone's guess). This is at a time when we're worried about security and we are making things less connected where possible.
3) Since I answered, "I'm not the Admin", it turns out that I'm not going to be the Admin in seven days (which some of us call a "week").
Come on, Intuit.
At least when you do something like this you could demonstrate a little bit of logic, to give us the impression at least that you actually thought it through:
I am getting tired of having to verify email oh sbout every fifth login to all my desktop companies. And why does that window , as well as window displaying payroll update info have to be so small it is nearly impossible to read. While on that subject why am i compelled to see the updates when none apply to my state? There ought to be an option upon installing payroll updates to skipnthe info screen.
I support your position here @john-pero.
The update is designed to help ensure that the person accessing the company file is authorized. Although this verification serves as helpful protection, some users find it unnecessary.
That said, I'm here to pass this along.
Additionally, the payroll update info screen will show by default once the update is finished. Currently, we don't have the option to disable the pop-up information.
Please let me know if there's anything else you need. I'm more than happy to help. Have a great day!
RE: The update is designed to help ensure that the person accessing the company file is authorized.
It does not do that at all. The Admin password does that.
This message appears after the file is open and can be dismissed. It does not ensure that the person with the password is authorized. That is what the password is for.

The Admin password only ensures that the person (or bot for that matter) has possession, allowed or not even known about, of the Admin password. If it truly were to prevent unauthorized use of the account then when an individual clicks the box stipulating that they are NOT the authorized user then the account would become locked.
I know we have had this discussion before whether a spouse or significant other - or even any trusted individual in the company - has any right (if granted by account holder) to access a single user account. I did some "in house" work for a small company, accessing QB on their computer with their login but if presented with such a query would have responded that I was her (the Admin). In fact I had to act as the Admin in order to upgrade their software for them as they were running 2012 in 2018

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say.
RE: If it truly were to prevent unauthorized use of the account then when an individual clicks the box stipulating that they are NOT the authorized user then the account would become locked.
Right. So this new annoyance (and, IMO, new security issue) does nothing to prevent access to the file. This is just Intuit trying to get everyone to log their company files into their Intuit accounts, which seems scary and creepy - especially as they are not being forthright about what they are doing.
RE: I did some "in house" work for a small company, accessing QB on their computer with their login but if presented with such a query would have responded that I was her (the Admin).
In this case, then, you'd have been expected to log into her Intuit account. If you had, I don't know what positive thing that would accomplish. I assume nothing at all given that Intuit has not provided any actual reasons for this.
In a world where hackers go after every large company in the world, WHY in the world would I want to put my quickbooks account login online. This statement that it offers me protection is utter clap-trap. It offers another way for a hacker to compromise my account. And please do not tell me how safe you are, Target, Experion, American Express all said they were safe too.
This is a way for intuit to control our systems and force upgrades and purchases by holding our data hostage if we do not do as they say. I for one find this behavior apalling, but sadly not surprising.
So what can I do to turn off this intuit sign in? this is none of intuits business and I don't want their protection. how do I turn this off ??????. it's only on one of my company files and is extremely annoying. I have severe arthritis in my fingers and the extra typing does not help
yes, SO ANNOYING!!! I'm going to try turning off wifi before i log in and see if that will help.
I don't believe this has to do with security, but rather Intuit wants everyone to get caught up in their subscription services and this is one step to reel in desktop software users. I used to enjoy using QB. With each "improvement" I am feeling more motivated to find another acctg software solution.
I turned off wi-fi before opening file and it seemed to work - no pop-
Any update on this? This is getting to the point of being the last straw. It is bad enough Intuit undercuts their "Pro Advisors" who are suppose to recommend Intuit products. Insulted enough? Nope. Intuit can do better by requiring a intuit.com for "every company file you use" as their email stated. Or what happens? You deny access to my company file on my own computer using the software I purchased the license to use? What about the "I keep my PC off the internet" people? How is this not some sort of anti-trust violation and where is the class action lawsuit to put them in place?
@IntuitLily you can help by talking to whoever is responsible for implementing this ridiculous update. We are now getting this popup on automated systems that use QB through an API, and guess what? There's no one there to click "I'm not the admin" to bypass this stupidity. For desktop users, we will forever click "I'm not the admin" to spite Intuit's heavy handed scheme to connect us to their online services for which we will never be interested in.
Has anyone gotten an answer about how to turn this off? It's extremely annoying and doesn't do anything. If someone else used my computer and tried to sneak in (and who would want to?), the info shows up in the fields anyway. Ridiculous.
Thank you for jumping in, rkai.
Upon checking, we don't have any updates about this. However, I'd like to let you know that we hear your feedback about this, too.
If you have other concerns or suggestions, feel free to share them with us.
Stay tuned for some updates on our QuickBooks Blog page.
This is getting worse. Today, 17 Sep 2020, I got an email from Intuit with this ominous inclusion:
Is Intuit going to shut down Quick Books? This is not free software like FB or Google where your personal and corporate info is the product they sell to advertisers. I may roll back to QB 2013 and start new files, at least the data will be secure.
Absolute B.S. that I have to do this every 7 days. This is desktop software I paid for to use on MY desktop. None of Intuits business who I let use MY software that I paid for! Time to start looking at Peachtree.
Have you been able to fix this I am having the same problem but now they are saying there is a problem logging in. I changed my password and can login in online but still cant login when it ask me on my desktop!!! Worried my time is going to expire in 28 days and then I wont be able to get in at all!!!!
Thank you for joining the thread, @epp12.

I agree with the main points of this discussion - the main thing that Intuit "gets" from this it to try to force a greater level of forced "recurring income" for Intuit....that's all it really accomplishes - while trying to "sell" is as a wonderful benefit to the end user. (As if Intuit is struggling financially to make ends meet).
I just wanted to chime in on this subject. I bought QB Desktop so I WOULD NOT have to be connected to the internet NOR intuit. Please remove this update.
Thanks for using QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @dws4wdr.
Allow me to guide you on how to disable the internet connection of your QBDT software. Here’s how:
You can also consider disabling your connection by turning off your Internet modem or disconnect it from your computer.
Furthermore, I encourage checking our QuickBooks Blog page. Here, you can browse some articles that can guide you to learn your ways around QBDT.
In case you have other concerns or questions about QuickBooks, you can always leave a reply with more details about it. I’m just a post away from you. Take care!
I do not want our end users having to set up yet another useless online account that we then have to manage. QB Desktop should just allow us to manage user accounts like we did before. This isn't for security, its for license control and intuit couldn't make that more obvious. Stop forcing people to use online services for login - we have already activated the software LEAVE US ALONE.
Requiring users to either disconnect from the internet or be forced to log in or deny the login every 7 days is absurd and unreasonable. Not all offices house the software on their actual desktop due to their internal security which you obviously are aware. Many users house the program on their own internal servers so disconnecting from the internet every time you want to use your accounting software is a ridiculous solution. The solution is for Intuit to add an option to disable the hounding. You are doing it 100% to market to us while we are trying to work. Market appropriately, not during our work time and stop FORCING and/or ANNOYING users to the point of looking for new software because that is where we are heading!
Please provide and update allowing for an opt out to log in to Intuit online, it is not secure, it is not legal and it is not what we purchased. I will sign on to any class action suit any lawyer wants to get going on this as it is just wrong! Stop badgering your loyal customers or they (WE) will become someone else's!
Intuit has taken this to a new level and is locking us out of our data.
I am on the phone with Tech Support trying to get access. Wish me luck.
