Who is the Primary Admin? You or your accountant?
And who is paying for the subscription? If you are on the accountant's discounted program (accountant pays Intuit for your QBO) then the accountant only can change the billing to you.
It’s nice to see you in the Community, seaviewfinancial.
Let me provide some information about managing users in the online program. Then guide you on how to remove an accountant user.
In addition to @john-pero's answer, you can remove a user as long as you have admin rights. If you’re the one paying for the subscription, let’s go to the Manager users page to delete your accountant. Performing this process is a breeze, and I’m here to guide you.
If your subscription is under the accountant's wholesale billing, contact them to remove your company from their plan. This way, you can manage your account.
Here’s an article that provides more details about adding or removing an accountant: Invite an accountant to review your accounting in QuickBooks Online. It includes a video for visual reference.
You can also read through these guides for future reference. From there, you’ll learn how to manage user roles, permissions, and know the tasks each user can do in the company.
Reach out to me if you have any clarifications about removing a user. I’m more than happy to answer them for you. Have a great week ahead.
Hi Rasa,
As the accountant, how do you remove your firm from the clients file. They hold the subscription and master admin right.
Hello there, @lgsmith.
Thanks for joining in this conversation. In your case, you'll need to contact your client and ask him/her to remove you as an accountant.
The steps shared by my colleague above will guide your client with the process.

When I get into the manage user accounting firm tab it shows my information as well as my previous accountant. However, I do not have the dropdown option on the side to remove them? I remember adding them and it was very easy, but I can't seem to remove them now. I am the primary admin and billing is done through the business. How can I get them removed?
Thank you for joining the thread, @zlamb1825.
I can help you sort things out so you can remove the old accountant access in QuickBooks seamlessly.
The stored cache can sometimes cause an unusual browser behavior. To verify, let's perform some basic troubleshooting steps. Here's how:

After that, you can go back and follow the same steps provided by @Rasa-LilaM. If you're able to remove the user with no issues, then you'll have to clear your regular browser cache.
If the issue persists, I suggest using another supported browser.
To learn more about user roles, see this: User roles and access rights in QuickBooks Online.
Please feel free to comment back if you have more questions about handling users in QuickBooks. I got your back always. Keep safe!
I tried incognito in chrome and tried using firefox, no actions show up as drop down choices. I need to remove one of the accounting firms and I am the primary admin. Any other ideas?
