Buy nowHi Guys, I switched to quickbooks online from quickbooks PC desktop in 2012, after changing bookkeeper, and we set up everything up as if it was a new company. All good! Now I need to access and include some data from the 2007 to 2011 desktop accounts, and I have a backup of the original backup file that was made for me in quickbooks for mac 2021. Looking at the excel sheets that were made for me at the same time I can see that there are time gaps between the two sets of accounts, and so the numbers don't match. I'd like to import this backup into my current quickbooks online, but I'm very concerned that it might just totally screw everything up - and yes, I'm a chicken! Is there a way of trying this and being able to undo the import if it does go crazy? Or another solution that doesn't involve the expense of adding another company/another account...
Thanks for letting us know your concerns when converting files from QuickBooks Desktop to Online. At the moment, the conversion process only supports QuickBooks for Windows.
When moving your company files, ensure QuickBooks is up-to-date, and your company file isn’t too big to export. You also want to make sure your Total Targets is less than 750,000 by pressing Ctrl + 1 on your keyboard.
Please note that the file cannot be converted to QuickBooks Online if it exceeds the target limit (750,000). You can only import lists and balances into QuickBooks Online or start from scratch.
You can print a copy of your Sales Tax Liability report to enter adjustment entries after your move. Hre's how:
