I'm using quickbooks online and can't find the "transaction detail by account report" even when I type it in the search box.

Let me provide some information about the report you need in QuickBooks Online (QBO), jonwhitak.

Our Transaction Detail by Account report is available if you're subscribed to an Essentials, Plus, or Advanced plan.

If you might be using the Simple Start version. you'll want to consider running an account quick report or upgrading your subscription to get the transaction detail report. Follow the steps on how you can upgrade your subscription:

  1. Click the Gear icon and select Account and Settings.
  2. Proceed to the Billing & Subscription tab.
  3. In the QuickBooks Online section, select Upgrade.
  4. Choose the next plan you want, and select Upgrade.
  5. Confirm your payment information and select Save.

If the same thing happens, and you subscribed to that plan. I recommend logging in to your account via a private window (incognito). This way, we can verify if this is a browser cache issue. To start, here are the keyboard shortcuts you can use in opening a private window:

  • Ctrl + Shift + N (Google Chrome browser)
  • Command + Shift + N (Safari browser)
  • Ctrl + Shift + P (Mozilla Firefox & Microsoft Edge browser)

If you’re able to view the report, I suggest clearing your regular browser's cache to refresh the system. If the issue persists, try using other supported browsers. That way, we can check if this is a browser-integrated issue.

I've additionally included a few detailed resources about working with reports that may come in handy moving forward:

Thank you for reaching out to us here on the Community page, @jonwhitak .

I'm happy to help you today so you'll be able to run a report that shows the breakdown of your inventory purchases per customer.

At this time, you can open the Transaction List by Customer report to get the information you need. Just filter the transaction type you want to display on the report as well as the customer names, and the report's date range.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  2. Go to Reports at the left pane, then type in Transaction List by Customer on the search field.
  3. Click on the report to open it.
  4. Tap on the Customize button beside Save customization.
  5. Under the Report period section, select the date you want to display on the report.
  6. Scroll down to the Filter section.
  7. Select the transactions you want to show by clicking on the drop-down arrow beside Transaction Type.
  8. Choose the customer/s you want to include.
  9. Hit Run report to refresh the page.

Once completed, you can now see the transactions/purchases recorded per customer.

On the other hand, when opening reports in QBO (Transaction Detail by Account) be sure to choose the correct Report period and try switching the accounting method from cash to accrual to get the information you need.
