Hi,
We use 2 licenses so one can be used remotely to access a separate company and the other is used for a separate set of companies. The 2nd license seems to continuously have difficulties logging in to QuickBooks. Is this due to the version installed on the different computers? Do we need to ensure when one update is done, either automatically, or manually, the other is updated at the same time?
Thanks in advance,
Dazed in ATL
Hello there, 360c. I'm here to help you access your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Premier without issues.
A possible reason why the 2nd license keeps experiencing difficulties in logging in is due to compatibility issues.
To resolve this, we need to reconfigure the setup to share the company file. For successful access in multi-user mode, it is crucial to ensure that the folders have the appropriate Windows permissions. I recommend reaching out to your IT team for assistance with this configuration. For more detailed guidance, please refer to this article: Set up folder and Windows access permissions to share company files.
You may also refer to this article for detailed information on QuickBooks Desktop hosting and multi-user mode: Host your company data in multi-user mode in QuickBooks Desktop.
To address your questions, different versions of QuickBooks can impact how your company file functions across different computers. It’s crucial to keep both systems updated to the latest version, as this helps ensure they run smoothly and efficiently, minimizing the risk of errors. For the system that is used remotely, please note that you will need to update it manually.
Moreover, if you're using cloud hosting through Rightworks, I suggest contacting them for further assistance. You can find guidance on connecting with them in the QuickBooks updates and reinstallation section of this article: QuickBooks Desktop cloud hosting powered by Rightworks.
Additionally, you can refer to this article about fixing common errors when you use, install, or update QuickBooks: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
Feel free to comment below if you have further questions about your login issues in QBDT, 360c. We're here to help you in any way we can.
Do you have a license for 2 users or 2 licenses for single user?
Can you find your license code in CAMPS?
Hi Chrea,
We have a license for 2 users. Yes, we can find the license codes in CAMPS.
Our issue is one of the licensed users has difficulty from time to time access their bank. They reach out to our office to see if we can assist. Seems they aren't finding the right answers when seeking on their own.
I'd like to understand how to help going forward without having to continue searching each time there is an issue.
Thanks for your help.
Appreciate the advice.
Believe I mistakenly lead us down a rabbit hole. We use the same license # to access two separate companies. They use one purchased seat, we use the other. Neither of us can access the others' companies. Seems there are certain times when they are unable to access their bank through QB Payments. Not sure if the updates must be done on the host computer, as well as any other computers which might access the respective companies, or if it is something else that is creating this. Can you advise further with this information?
Thanks in advance.

What do you mean "the host computer"? Do all company files reside on one PC and the second user accesses the file(s) via VPN or something else?
