Upgraded account from self-employed to quickbooks online and 7 months of transactions are gone

I am so frustrated. I've been paying QB since Nov 2021 for self-employed and was advised by an accountant to upgrade my account to Online in Aug 2021. My first quarter and second quarter had already been looked at by my accountant and categorized. I finally had the chance to sit down to reconcile everything from the last two quarters and to my surprise EVERYTHING from Jan 2021 - July 2021 is GONE!!! I am a realtor so all the miles I documented for traveling are GONE! All my commissions paid to me before August are GONE! I need to send out 1099 forms but all that information is now GONE! I paid all last year for services why would 7 months worth of transactions disappear? I need this fixed ASAP

I can see how the issue greatly impacts your business, @jassimone.

Let me make it up to you in the QuickBooks Community page. I'll help you bring back your missing data so you can submit the 1099 forms.

It could be that some of your data aren't successfully transferred during the migration process. This can be the reason why your 7 months' worth of transactions isn't showing in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Let me share with you some steps on how to move the missing files into QBO. To start, by download your transactions in a CSV file and upload them into QBO. Here's how:

  1. In QuickBooks Self-Employed, select the Transactions menu.
  2. Choose the transaction types, accounts, and time period you want to download from the dropdown menus.
  3. Click the download icon at the top of the transaction list.
  4. Save the file somewhere that's easy to find, like your Windows desktop.
  5. Select a category type to download from the drop-down menus.
  6. Enter notes, browse and upload a receipt.
  7. Click Save.

You can also use a third-party app like Transaction Pro and Excel Importer to import them into QuickBooks Online.

If you have missing banking transactions, you can also upload them in QBO. Let me show you how:

  1. Sign in to your new QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Go to Settings and then select Import Data.
  3. Click Bank Data.
  4. In the Get your info from your bank section, select Browse.
  5. Find and select the CSV file you downloaded, select Open. Then click Next.
  6. From the QuickBooks Account ▼ drop-down menu, choose the account you want to move the transactions into and select Next.
  7. Match the statement fields from the CSV with the ones in QuickBooks Online. Then click Next.
  8. Choose the transactions you want to move to QuickBooks Online and select Next.
  9. Click Yes, then select Let’s go.

Once your transactions are in QBO, go to the Banking menu, then select Banking. Follow the steps to review and categorize your transactions.

Please reach back out to me with any additional information on migrating data in QBO. I'll be right to help.

I appreciate you for doing the steps provided by my colleague above and for getting back to this thread, @jassimone

In uploading your data to QuickBooks Online, let's ensure that the file is supported. Aside from that, check the formatting and the date range you use when setting up the process.

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our support team. They have the tools to check your account in a safe environment, and they can help find the root cause of your issue and find a fix.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select the Help (?) menu.
  3. Choose the Assistant tab.
  4. Click the Talk to a human option.

  5. Select Get help from a human.

  6. Click either Chat with us or Have us call you button.

Additionally, let me attach this link to help switch your account from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online

Keep me posted if you have other questions when migrating from the QuickBooks Self-Employed to the Online version. I'll be happy to help you. Stay safe!
