How can I view my data from desktop pro plus 2021 without a subscription? I’m not able to open the company file. I was hoping to try the online version, but don’t see how I can import the data from the desktop version if I can’t open the company file.
You can use the trial version for QBD 2021 Pro to open your file and convert it to QBO.
Welcome to the Community, @shellynagle. I can help you provide some information about reviewing your data without subscriptions in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) account.
You can still access the data file even if you don't have s subscriptions. Your company's data won't be affected. However, you're unable to use or access them unless you re-activate the service. Once you do so, you'll immediately get to open and view your file to continue managing the growth of your business.
I agree with Fiat Lux - Asia that you can utilize the trial version for QB Desktop Enterprise to open the file. But if you need to open files frequently, consider downgrading the files and purchasing a one-time QuickBooks Pro license for QB Desktop 2021 Pro for the time being and then restore your backup file in the trial account, then proceed to convert to QuickBooks Online.
In addition, you can check out this resource that provides detailed information about QuickBooks Desktop cancelation policies: QuickBooks Desktop cancelation policies.
Keep me posted by leaving a reply to this thread if you have more questions or concerns about managing your subscription. I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Stay safe and take care.
Thank you for your response. Where can I buy a license for 2021 pro?
Hey there, @shellynagle.
Let me step in and share some details about buying QuickBooks Pro 2021.
QuickBooks Pro 2021 is no longer available on our website. I'd recommend contacting our support team to help you.
Here's how:
I've also included this article that will help you on how to Download QuickBooks Pro 2021.
Please let me know if you have additional questions about upgrading QuickBooks. I'm always here to help.
I’ve tried reaching out via chat ‘help’ and also by calling. No one will help me with purchasing a pro 2021 license. I also don’t know how to find a download for a trial version so that I can get my data. Any other suggestions? I really don’t want to buy a subscription if it will only give access for a year. I have great doubts that the online version will be a good software for me.
Contact me in private and we can share the trial code for QBD 2021.
I found one last night. Thanks
How can you share the temp license for Quick Books pro 2021. I only need it for one time access for a tax issue.
Thank you,

Hello there, Frank. I'll share additional insights about obtaining a trial code for QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
At this time, the QBDT trial version we offer on the website is for 2023. For older versions, I suggest looking outside of QuickBooks or contacting our Customer Care Team to request QuickBooks trial links and licenses for the mentioned versions.
You may also reach out to Fiat Lux - Asia by messaging privately for a QBDT 2021 trial license.
Additionally, you can check out these resources to compare your financial reports and other data if you want to migrate to QuickBooks Online:
I'm all ears if you have other concerns about the system's features and managing business expenses in QBDT. Have a great day.
I have two versions of QB. QB Premier Contractor Edition 2021 and QB Pro Plus 2024.
Since support for the 2021 version was ending we purchased the 2024 version named above.
We did not know know that the 2024 program was sold "illegally". We started using it in mid April.
Last week we had a pop up on the 2024 version that it can only be in VIEW ONLY" mode. Contacted QB and was told that we were "scammed" and that version was already licensed to others but it worked for us nearly three and half months. Ok we got scammed and certainly learned a lesson. But now we need to take the QB file from the 2024 version and get it to the 2021 version or if we purchase a new desktop version license for $900 for one year then will I be able to open the "view only" data. We are small construction firm and since mid April of 2024 to today we have only created 41 invoices and less number of estimates along with the normal bank check book register. My question is how can get the data file from view only 2024 version to operational 2021 version. Much appreciate hearing how to do this. my email is: < [Removed] > Thank you,
If you don't need to run any add-ons, you should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA. They can offer a workaround for your case. As an additional note, remove your email address from your post. Only scammers will send you emails.
This isn't the experience we want you to encounter when upgrading to the latest QuickBooks version, Jeffrey. I'm here to help you open your company data.
Once you upgrade your 2021 file to the latest version (2024), this process is irreversible. With this, you can no longer access the data from the old version.
Meanwhile, if you purchase another QuickBooks Desktop 2024, it will have new license details. The View-only mode pop-up will be open since the two programs have different licenses.
For us to access the company data, ensure you have secured a backup copy. This way, we can restore it once you install the 2024 version.
I've added these resources to help you in accessing the file:
If you haven't secured a backup copy, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They have tools to help you move your data.
