downloaded transaction twice into two different accounts.

I accidentally downloaded my bank transactions into two different accounts and now I am showing twice the income. How can I safely delete the transactions that ended up in the wrong account?

I'm here to share information about deleting your bank transactions posted in the wrong account, Kenny.

If these are transactions that haven't been matched or classified, we can ignore them to delete them from your transaction list. Beforehand, ensure you're using the Advanced Mode to complete this process.

Here's what we have to do:

  1. Go to the Banking tab.
  2. Choose Bank Feeds and then hit the Bank Feeds Center menu.
  3. Select your bank account and check all the transactions you want to ignore.
  4. Click the Batch Actions and choose Ignore
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions.

However, if these are categorized data, we can remove them from the Bank Register to and then delete them. Also, if this happens to be included or from the reconciled period, I recommend undoing the reconciliation after deleting these transactions. I would suggest consulting a financial professional to ensure you're on the right track.

Thank you for the quick response but,

When in Advanced Mode and in the Bank Feeds Center, if I click on the bank account in question, Union Bank, there are no transactions listed, none to "ignore".

I've tried to go to the particular Union Bank Register and void the entry but it pops back into my "Record Deposits" list. And if I record it, it then pops into my U.S. Bank register (where it already is) and increases my total.

What steps am I missing?

Hello there, Kenny. I am here to help you void or delete duplicate transactions and ensure that transactions are recorded in the correct bank account.

Since you've mentioned that you've voided the entry, but it pops back into my "Record Deposits" list. Let's open the transaction that shows up and then delete it first.

Then, let's open the deposit transaction in the US Bank register and move or edit the deposit account to Union Bank. Now, select the AR for the category and link it to the open invoice.

If you're using other bank modes, check out this article for detailed steps: Remove duplicate transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

It's also recommended to reconcile your account regularly to ensure the balance of your account matches your real-life bank statement.

You can click the reply button below whenever you need further assistance deleting your duplicate transaction. I'm always here to help you.
