How do I import a QBO file into QB online?

Glad to have you here in the Community, KristiK.

I'm here to guide you on how you can import transactions in QuickBooks Online.

You can only import your lists (suppliers, customers, inventory, and chart of accounts)  in QuickBooks Online. You can move your existing lists from another QuickBooks Online company. This saves you from having to set up the items from your lists one by one.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to the account that has your lists.
  2. Select Reports.
  3. Depending on what list you need to export, search for and run Account ListCustomer Contact ListSupplier Contact List, or Product/Service List report.
  4. After saving your report, export it.
  5. Open the exported report in Excel.
  6. Delete rows 1-4 to remove your company name and report title from the sheet.
  7. Save your report again as Excel or CSV.

After you export and save your reports, you can import them to QuickBooks Online.

For detailed steps on importing each list, see these articles:

You can check this article to help you out on how you can export customer information from QuickBooks Online to Excel: Export customer data to Excel

Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with exporting customer's data. I'll be right here whenever you need additional information.

How do I import a QBO file into QB online?

Thanks Leizy, perhaps I was not clear.  This is a QBO file from a credit card that I need to import.  QB quick syncing with QB.  I got that fixed, but some of the 2020 data is missing. I worked with the credit card tech department, and have the QBO file.   I need to import the missing transactions from the credit card (now a QBO file) into QB online. It is not a list.

Hope you can help!  Tax season!

Thank you, Kristi

Glad to have you here, @KristiK,

I can help you upload your credit card data in QuickBooks. You download the entries from your credit card company then map the transactions correctly.

Once it is ready, start importing the QBO file to your QuickBooks Online company. Follow these steps:

  1. Open your QBO account and tap the Banking menu.
  2. Click the Link Account drop-down.
  3. Tap the Upload from file option.
  4. Press Browse and choose the file you want to upload.
  5. Choose an QBO file from the list, then Open.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to map the fields.
  7. Select the transactions to import.
  8. Click Yes then Let’s go.

To learn more about mapping and uploading bank entries, see the following article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online

Kindly update me with the result, as I want to make sure you're all set. I'll be more than glad to share additional insights and assistance any time. Have a wonderful day!
