Matching transactions

Company now has banking downloaded and am doing matching.  Seems like QBO matches any transaction of the same amount; for example, 5 clients pay the same amount $24, so when I try to match I may get all 5 client  options PLUS a huge list of open invoices of the same amount (pic example included).  From your info "QuickBooks now knows the downloaded transaction is the same one you already entered. It connects the two so there are no duplicates. Your work is done." Not really. Since QBO cannot match using the client name, its up to me to go on a hunt and find the correct transaction.  Why doesn't it look for matches of payments only and not list open invoices?  Is there a feature I can turn on or off to get this to work better?

And , do not send me a private message about this.  Every time I post a question, someone sends a private message which I will NEVER open.

Matching transactions

Your confusion ends here, @Imtired.

Allow me to fill you in on everything you need to know about matching bank transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When matching downloaded transactions in QBO, the system will show all the possible transactions you can match based on the amount. Thus, you'll need to search each of the open invoices and match them manually to your downloaded transaction.

On the other hand, there isn't an option to turn on or off not to show all the open transactions that match your downloaded one. However, you can utilize the Bank rule feature to automatically categorize your bank transactions. For more guidance, feel free to check out this article: Set up bank rules to categorize online banking transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Once all your transactions are matched, you can reconcile your account when you're ready. This is to make sure your QuickBooks transactions match your bank statements.

It's nice working with you, @Imtired. Should you need further assistance matching your bank transactions, I'm available here to help any time!
