I know how to match transactions the typical way (reviewing after downloads) so I don't need help with that. My situation is that there are two of us who access our QuickBooks account and on occasion I run into the following situation and wondering if anyone has experienced this. Question: I've reviewed and accepted a downloaded bank transaction then while reconciling the account, I noticed another employee entered the same transaction with a detailed description and included the attachment after the fact. Is it possible to still match their new entry with the bank download or do I need to delete/void one of them?
Yes, Lawblake. You can match the new entry with the downloaded bank transaction. Let me guide you through this process.
In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can match the downloaded bank transactions to the new entry to link them together, avoiding duplicate entries. Since you've already accepted the downloaded bank transactions, it's best to undo these from the Categorized tab so you can match the new entry and bank transactions in the For Review tab.
Here's how:
Furthermore, you can access this material if you've encountered any discrepancies after reconciling your account: Fix issues at the end of a reconciliation in QuickBooks Online.
Please let me know if you have additional questions regarding matching bank transactions, Lawblake. I'll be around to help you out.
Great - I actually never used the "Category" Tab before now. This was very helpful information - Thanks so much!!!
We're happy to see you were able to find this helpful, Lawblake.
