BANK OF AMERICA no longer supports Direct Connect

I was told by Bank of America today that they no longer have direct connect with Quick Books Online. 

I asked them to send me the article and they told me to google it and I cannot find anything.  Does anybody have anything regarding QBO on direct connect with Bank of America?  I am constantly struggling with my bank feeds not working and this might answer why I am having so much trouble but the groups that I belong to online say that they don't have my problem and if the banks don't help and QBO doesn't help then I have to come here but please, please do not respond with how to download and upload manually, I can recite all of the steps in my sleep.

I appreciate the update you've shared about the Bank of America connection, @KS1966.

 

You are right that QuickBooks Online no longer supports direct connections to Bank of America (QBO). In the meantime, you can manually submit the transactions to your QBO account.

 

Additionally, you can file a request for your bank to be added to QBO to help you manage your transactions. Here's how:

 

  1. In the left menu, go to Bookkeeping and select Transactions.
  2. Select Link account.
  3. Search for the name of your financial institution (for example, Square Savings). Once QuickBooks is unable to find your bank, you will get the message, "Hmm, we can’t find [name of the bank you entered] in our list of supported banks," and you will be presented with helpful tips to try and locate your bank account.
  4. If you’re still unable to find your bank, select Request.
  5. Enter your bank's name and web address (URL) in the field provided.
  6. Click Request.

So there is no direct connect and you give instructions to link.  What does a link do if it does not connect?

Why is this information not shared with customers and most importantly with your support?  Do you know how many hours  I have spent with case number after case number and investigation after investigation because the bank is not connecting to my quickbooks?

Another question.  I belong to several bookkeeping groups as I am a QBO certified pro,(doesn't help with bank links, btw) and they are not having problems with their bank feeds not updating but you just confirmed that it's true that there is no longer direct connect so if it is in fact true then is it only true for some or is there some sort of trick that I am unaware of?

Thanks for following up with the Community, KS1966.
 

Since your bank feed isn't working, I'd initially recommend performing a manual download. QuickBooks downloads the latest available transactions for most banks every night around 10 PM PT. Some may take a bit longer than others. If downloads seem stuck, or you want your latest available transactions, a manual download can help.
 

Here's how to perform a manual download:
 

  1. Go to Bookkeeping, Transactions, then Bank transactions.
  2. Select Update. This updates all of the connected accounts.

 

If downloads still seem slow or stuck, there could be an issue on your bank's end. Sign in to the account on their website and follow these steps:
 

  1. Check your account for notifications, messages, and/or alerts.
  2. Look for any display issues as you navigate their website. These can block QuickBooks from downloading new transactions.
  3. Check the website for any announcements about new security requirements.
  4. If everything looks good, return to QuickBooks and perform a manual download again.

 

Another possibility is if you recently updated any account details through your bank's website. For example, account numbers, usernames, passwords, etc. In the event you've made changes to bank account information, you'll need to update your account's info in QuickBooks:
 

  1. Go to Bookkeeping, Transactions, Bank transactions, then choose an account by selecting its tile.
  2. Use the account's Pencil () icon.
  3. Click Edit sign-in info.
  4. Update your info and save the changes.

It's not about manual downloads, I know all about how to do those.  This is about Bank of America and Quick Books online no longer having Direct Connect.  This is the subject, please don't derail it by adding things that do not apply.  See original post.

Hi, May I ask if it's something that you can't link your BofA checking account in QBO? I also can't link one of our clients but some of the existing clients didn't have any problem on their bank feeds. When I tried to linked their checking account, it didn't show the checking account I need to link but it only shows the connected accounts which were the credit cards. Do we have the same issue and if we did, have you got any useful information to help us? Thank you

Let me elaborate on some details when connecting Bank of America to QuickBooks Online (QBO), KM1987.

 

There's an ongoing issue with checking accounts not appearing on your listed accounts. We've received the report with this investigation information (INV-89255). Our engineers are working to get this fixed as soon as possible.

 

In the meantime, you can download transactions from your bank's website. Then, manually upload them in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'll guide you how:

 

  1. Go to the Banking menu. Then Banking.
  2. Select Upload transactions or Upload from file.
  3. Select Drag and drop or select files and select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then select Continue.
  4. In the QuickBooks account ▼  dropdown, select the account you want to upload the transactions into. Then select Continue.
  5. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then select Continue.
  6. Select the transactions you would like to import. Then select Continue.
  7. Select Yes.
  8. When you accept your transactions, select Done.

Apart from this, I still recommend reaching out to our support team so you'll be added to the list of affected users. This way, you'll get an update once the issue is fixed. Here's how to reach them: 

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (?).
  3. Select either tab to get started:

    • Search: Search the QuickBooks Online knowledge base directly, or select Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:

QuickBooks support is one of the worst I have ever seen. I am closing my relationship with them over this issue. They don’t care.

I agree. As for me, I can directly connect my BOA checking account, but not credit card account. Called QB multiple times. No solution.
