Hi there, I saw this conversation about connecting VENMO to QBOnline.
Venmo agent told me, QBO does not allow importing of business transactions into QBO? I have successfully matched up my VENMO to QBO but it only allows me to import personal transactions.
Is it correct that VENMO only allows personal transactions?
If yes, how do you propose I upload my business transactions into QBO?
Thank you.
Hi, n-howard.
I appreciate you doing what you can to connect your Venmo business account to QuickBooks. I have some information to help you with your business transactions.
Yes, you're correct. Venmo only allows the personal account to connected with QuickBooks. Some banks have this limitation. If you're trying to connect a business account, we may consider reaching out to your financial institution. This way, we can submit a request for your business account to be connected with QBO.
In the meantime, if you'll want to manually upload your Venmo business transactions. We can check this article if we need help: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
I'm also adding these links below to help you in connecting and categorizing your bank transactions in QBO:

any luck? im having same issue. when i try to login and connect on QB to my venmo, it will only accept my phone number credentials and not my business username - and when I use my phone number, it only pulls up my personal account....in chatting with venmo they stated" venmo is not compatible with quickbooks, so the only thing I can advise you is to not link it since we cannot ensure the connection will be efficient because venmo is not designed to be connected to different software."
I am having the same issue and find it disheartening that QBs advertises that they are compatible with Venmo but then do not allow you to connect your business account. It is beyond frustrating for those of us not using personal venmos for business and going about this the proper way for business/tax purposes. This was one of the largest reasons I subscribed to QBs as a majority of my sales are through my business account.
Hi all,
I'm facing multiple issues while trying to sync Venmo business with my accoun:
ISSUE 1:
Once you enable "2 phase authentication" (extra code via SMS) in Venmo acconut settings, the QBO Bank Account connectivity setup needs to be EDITED EVERY SINGLE TIME, in order to request a new code. Suggested solution:
QBO should be IMPROVED to:
Solution Option 1: work out with Venmo a way to bypass the 2 phase authentication when downloading transactions requests come from QBO endpoints).
Solution Option 2: pop up a window during the refresh process, requesting a user to enter the 2 phase auth code every time it tries to update the transactions in this scenario
Issue 2:
When downloading transaction from Venmo for which Venmo applied a Business processing fee, that FEES (charged for each payment processed by Venmo) are not loaded in QBO (the full amount of the payment received in Venmo is loaded and no fee deducting the amount that vanmo charged to process that transaction appears in QBO).
This adaptor should not ignore the fees portion of the feed, but rather, offer an option to log that fee amount as either COGS or an additional charge to be included in the invoice. In my business model this is a charge that I swallow as a business owner, and do not pass along to my customer.
It could appear as a FULL PAYMENT transaction (as it shows today after the import) but somehow associated with a FEE, which I could classify as COGS. There may be other more elegant ways, but the fact is that the fee imposed on Venmo Business transactions must be recorded as a payment processing fee (and in my case increase COGS).
I expect: Sales Receipt = 50.00 USD, Venmo payment collected for that invoice = 50.00 before charges, and a charge of 1.05 USD (equating to their base charge of 1.9%+0.10 USD per transaction, calculated by Venmo when collecting payment, which I'm going to log as Business expense).
Later on, when the ACCUMULATED Venmo balance is transferred over to my account, the AMOUNT reduced by the FEES applied by Venmo when the payment was collected is transferred. That amount typically will NOT match with anything as it will be a BALANCE transfer between accounts.
The trick used to have the invoice paid from the Venmo payment, as undeposited payments should be automated as it is way too complex to process manualy for each single payment produced by Venmo.

I understand the convenience of connecting our account to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), @MichaeltwirlUSA.
Beforehand, may I know what specific error you encountered? I would greatly appreciate it if you would provide a screenshot for visual reference. This way, I can effectively address any concern you may have.
In the meantime, we can use an incognito browser to connect your Venmo account to QBSE. This can help isolate the issue and determine if it's a browser-related issue.

WRONG. Venmo is listed as unavailable as a bank to connect too. I would never have went with quickbooks if I knew this. GARBAGE.
Was venmo removed? its not showing up for me.

I have a personal Venmo account that I have used for years. When I started my business it would not allow me to create a separate login for my business account. I use the same login for my personal account and then choose the business account once I am already logged in.
When I connected my Venmo to QBO it only showed one account available to connect and that account is my personal account. I do not see my business account as an option to connect. If I select the personal account will I be able to get all of the transactions including my business transactions?
Let's ensure that the bank's name or URL you've entered is correct so we don't have any connection issues, Long.
I'd recommend logging into your business account's webpage. From there, copy the web address or URL and use it to search for the appropriate account through the Connect an Account page.
If you are still having trouble locating or searching for your Venmo Business account, I recommend choosing the "Still can't find your bank?" link. By doing this, you can request to link your business account to QBO's online banking feature.
For complete guidance, you can refer to this article: Find your bank or credit card account when you connect to online banking in QuickBooks Online.
In the meantime, we can manually upload your Venmo Business account transactions to QBO. This method will allow you to keep everything current and track them as needed. Refer to this article for the steps: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
Additionally, once you've successfully linked your Venmo business account to QBO, you'll need to review the downloaded transactions. Refer to this article for future guidance: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
