Can't attach Receipt uploaded from app

I have snapped a receipt on the IOS app.  When I open an expense in Quickbooks, and I click Attach File-> Mobile, and it says there's no documents.  When I go through Receipt Management, they show up, but it seems like I should be able to attach it from the Attach File window instead of the extra step. Can't attach Receipt uploaded from app

Hi hometownrefurnishing!

You can match and attach the uploaded receipt to an existing transaction in QuickBooks Desktop. I'm here to show you how.

Once the receipt has been successfully uploaded in the QuickBooks Desktop mobile app, it'll show on the Receipt Management page. From there, we can attach it to an existing transaction on your register.

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Vendor menu and select Receipt Management.
  2. From the For Review tab, select the Refresh icon to see your receipts.
  3. Select the small arrow, then Review.
  4. If the receipt matches a transaction, select Attach.
  5. Click OK.

You also want to send feedback to our engineers so lessen the steps in reviewing the uploaded receipts. From the Help menu, select Send Feedback Online, then Product Suggestion.

Please check these links on how to upload and manage attachments using the QuickBooks Desktop mobile app. These articles will also answer the commonly asked questions about this feature and fix issues you might encounter:

Thanks. So I can't upload from the MOBILE tab in the Attach File window? Why is that even there?

Let me clear things up for you, @hometownrefurnishing.

QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) lets you upload and review your receipts from the mobile app. You'll just have to ensure the image is in a PDFs, JPEG, JPG, GIF, or PNG format. This way, the file will show up in the Documents uploaded from mobile window.

Since you've mentioned you snapped the receipts on an IOS app, there's a great chance the image is in HEIC format. To upload it in QBDT, you'll need to convert the image to a compatible format.

You'll want to read the Upload receipts from QuickBooks Desktop iOS mobile app section in this article for the complete details: Upload receipts to QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus or Enterprise.

Once you're all set, you might want to check out this link for reference in matching your accounts efficiently: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

I'm all ears if you have any other follow-up questions about uploading receipts in QBDT. Just add the details in your response and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Have a dazzling day ahead!

Can't attach Receipt uploaded from app

Yes, same issue here.  They've removed the ability to scan directly into Quickbooks and gave us a mobile app that only half works.   I guess that's why we pay those hefty Enterprise subscription fees, to make our lives more difficult.  Maybe we'll get something that works in version 23 if we keep our subscription. Thanks Intuit!

Thank you for your feedback, adambpa.

Technology is constantly updating, and we believe that using a mobile app is more convenient than using a scanner because mobile devices and apps are the latest trends in the business industry. That's why we've removed the option to scan documents via QuickBooks in newer versions.

I understand how you feel about this shift, and I want you to know that we're constantly making improvements to make your experience better. You can also Help, choose New Features, and select What's New to see other features that we've rolled out in QuickBooks.

Feel free to go back to this thread if you have questions about the enhancements we made or anything about QuickBooks.

My receipt matches but then I get an error when I try to attach that says "receipt attach to transaction failed". I have updated QB so I know that is not the problem.

Hi, @mfunk.

I'll make sure you'll be able to attach receipts to a transaction in QuickBooks Desktop.

I appreciate you for taking some steps to get this fixed and yet it's still not working. Let's run the Quick Fix My File from the QuickBooks Tool Hub to resolve issues on your company file. Here's how:

  1. Download and install the latest QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. Once installed, open to the tool hub and go to your Company File Issues.
  3. Click Quick Fix my File.
  4. Select OK when it completes and launch your QuickBooks.

If you get the same result, you can check out this article for more troubleshooting steps: Fix company file and network issues with QuickBooks File Doctor.

In addition, please know that QuickBooks Desktop only supports PDFs and images with JPEG, JPG, GIF, or PNG format. If you have different format images, you can convert existing images to a compatible format.

You might also want to learn more about uploading receipts to QuickBooks Desktop. This article will provide you with the detailed steps and information: Upload receipts to QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise.

Know that you're always welcome to get back to us if you require additional help with matching receipts and other QuickBooks concerns. Have a good one.

Can't attach Receipt uploaded from app

Honestly, the whole vendor receipt management part of quickbooks is just plain awful.  And this is coming from a user of over twenty years.  It is so hard to use and just plain clunky. Every receipt with the same amount no matter what the account is should pop up as a potential match.  Don't even get me started about how you can't start typing the name of the account number and the account pops up.  Why did you not keep that feature? You need to make it easier to navigate as well.  I absolutely despise the slow matching you have created.  Why don't you actually get a user to show you what you need?  This is the worst thing you have created since I've been using Quickbooks.  Trash this and start over then Beta test with some of us.  There is no way this would have passed if I had tried to use it!
