Im sorry, but to what are you referring?
The issue has nothing to do with duplicate transactions.
I can not delete bank accounts. The option is there, but it does not work.
I reported this issue 3 weeks ago.
I am sorry, but I find this to be unsatisfactory that it would take this long to fix a crucial error.

Thank you for getting back to me. I already updated my answer above.

I am sorry, but this is causing such issues for me right now.
Fixing glitches like this should be a priority.
Or someone there should provide me a workaround.
FYI...one of your phone reps yesterday erroneously told me that accounts with transactions can not be deleted.
so, can you understand why I am not confident that this is being looked out or will be fixed?
Hello brotherjug,
I appreciate you for sharing your experience with one of our phone representatives. I'm here to provide information about the issue with deleting a bank account.
The ongoing issue with deleting a bank account in QuickBooks Online is our priority. Our Product Development Team is working hard to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
The turnaround time for the fix will depend on the number of users reporting to our backend team. They need to investigate the issue by checking each account of the affected users to come up with a fix.
Since we don't have a workaround yet, I recommend contacting our Phone Support Team again. They can add you to the list of affected users into the system. Users that'll be part of the list will receive updates about the issue via Email. You can provide the investigation number (INV-12920) directly to the support you'll be speaking.
Please reach us through this article: Get help with QuickBooks Online.
I know how important the resolution is to the issue you encountered in the QuickBooks product, so I'll keep you up to date on this thread. Please remember the Community Team is always here to help.

I am sorry, but this is inexcusable. What you are telling me is that you won't fix it unless more people report this as an issue.
IT IS A GLITCH. IT IS NOT A FEATURE REQUEST.
No one on your end can help me delete an account, whether it's credit card or banking. It is affecting my business in a huge way because in an audit, any peresonal accounts in QB are a huge red flag. Huge.
YOU are giving me an error as to why these can not be deleted and no one on your end can trouble shoot this error. This is just unacceptable.
I need these accounts removed from my QB online by 12/31. Or at least help me make them inactive.
Your policy of not fixing glitches and bugs in QB online unless a lot of people are affected by them deplorable.
I’m having the same problem. I can’t delete my personal bank account
Thanks for joining in on this thread, Bobjmiller.
I'll share some details about online banking issue.
Our engineers are aware of the issue and are working towards finding a permanent fix. While waiting for the resolution, we need to add your company to the list of affected users to receive email updates.
I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Customer Care Team and provide them the investigation number (INV-12920).
I'll keep a look out for updates and provide them once they're available.
Reach out to me directly if you have additional questions about QBO. I'll be around to answer them. Have a good one.
Thank you! I am so happy that I found this article! SOLVED!!!!
there is no delete option in the dropdown. This is very frustrating!! The deleted account checks from another bank account keeps coming into QBO when we bring transactions in but cannot get rid of that.
Hi leigh69,
I understand the feeling of being told to click on a particular option, which is Delete in this case, but it is not available on the platform. I’ll clarify this one, and then we’ll work on your transactions and accounts.
The Delete option was available way back then but was replaced with Make inactive because that's literally the process of removing an account.
Here are the updated steps to inactivate an account:
You can find more information about inactivating an account in this article: Make an account inactive on your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.
Regarding your third sentence, can you clarify if you mean a deleted account or checks? Then, please explain your process of bringing transactions into QuickBooks that causes the checks to keep coming back into QuickBooks. This way, I can provide the necessary steps to fix your records.
I will continue to help you once I get more details, but my colleagues will also jump in if I'm not at my desk. Take good care always!
Hello,
If I delete or disconnect a bank account, will I lose any of my customer and vendor metadata? Or is that data now independent and safely stored in Quickbooks Online?
Steve
Great to have you here in the Community space, Steve365.
Allow me to give you some information on what will happen to your bank account data if you disconnect your account in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
The deleting bank account option is not available. However, you can disconnect an account while your existing data stays remain. If you disconnect your bank account in QBO, this only stops downloading new transactions going in. With this, you'll need to hide those transactions from the Chart of Accounts and make them inactive.
Here's how to disconnect a bank account:
You can follow these steps to make account data inactive:
Furthermore, you can check out this article to learn what to do if you see error messages or don't see recently downloaded bank transactions in QBO: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online.
