Join nowHi there, @lewisckg. Let me share some info about how QuickBooks Online works with bank feeds.
The error message you're getting comes up when the parent account is connected to online banking. You'll have to disconnect it first before making any changes.
Here's how:
Then, you can add the sub-account. After that, reconnect its parent account.
Additionally, there are two ways how your banks send the downloaded transactions to the program:
You'll need to connect the parent account only if the transactions download to one account. Otherwise, link the sub-accounts if the transactions download to individual accounts. If you try to connect to both, you will receive a message that the account has already been connected to QuickBooks Online.
When you reconcile, you only need to reconcile the parent account. It's because all transactions in the sub-accounts roll up into it.

I'm always here if you need any more help working with bank feeds. Have a great day.
Thank you fro the reply. I tried to disconnect the parent account (the original credit card account), connected the sub account (the 2nd card on the original account), and then when I went to reconnect the parent account I just got the message that it couldn't connect because a sub account was already connected. I'm lost how to do this. It's one credit card account with 2 cards attached to it. My bank has all of the transactions compiled under one account. However the transactions from the 2nd card do not transfer to my Quickbooks account only the transactions from the 1st card transfer.
Welcome back, lewisckg.
In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you're unable to connect both the parent accounts and their subaccounts. If you do, you'll get the same error that you experienced saying you're account is already connected. That said, you'll need to verify with your bank as to which account will transactions be downloaded.
Here's a complete guide on how to set up a subaccount in QBO: About bank or credit card subaccount setup.
You might find this article helpful when matching and managing your downloaded transactions: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Anything else you need help with or additional questions about subaccount can be answered here in the Community. Just let me know and I'd be to assist.
