There are several reasons may fail to open the company file. Some of them are listed below:
To resolve the issue, we need to follow some recommended steps in order to open our company file.
Step 1: Make sure you are update the latest release of QuickBooks.
Step 2: You'll need to open a company file (QBW) with a .qbw extension at the end of the filename.
Step 3: Let's identify what's causing of the issue by following the steps below.
a. Open the Windows Start menu.
b. Type “File Explorer” into the search and open File Explorer.
c. Search for and find the QuickBooks.exe file. It’s usually in your QuickBooks folder.
d. Hold down CTRL on your keyboard and double-click QuickBooks.exe.
If still persists, please don't open your company file. Instead, click Open a sample file. Then, if the sample file open successfully, you can now move on to Step 4. Please check out this article for more detailed steps on fixing the issue of company file won't open.
If the issue persists and not able to fix the issue of opening company file. This time, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Support so they can assist you further and they have a tools like screen sharing tools to check your account privately.

Thank you for the prompt response last night. There was an H505 error message and I was able to walk through the steps and get everything working correctly.

i can not even click help on menu so i can go to qb desk top help. i been restarting so many times. wont allow me to click any key. always pop out that it has another company file open. i only have one user.
