Manually importing downloaded qbo file from credit card in Quickbooks desktop 2019

@JAK-TSD

We have yet to find any decent replacement for QBD Pro/Premier/Mac. Your best option to replace QBD Mac is converting data to QBO or another cloud based app. Purchase a 3rd party conversion service if required.

@INNNtuuuiiittt sucks

You can't utilize MT to import data into any outdated QBD version. You have to prepare your bank statements data with the following template.

Bank AccountTransaction DatePayeeChk No.AccountAmountMemoClassBillableBillable Entity
Checking01/09/2020AT&T123Utilities:Telephone-100Check Payment N
Checking02/09/2020Jane Doe141Product Sales150Deposit N

then utilize one of these importer tools

https://transactionpro.grsm.io/qbd

https://partners.saasant.com/affiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=5051_2

You will need another template to import CC charges/credits.

I get an error i the Rebuild Process every time so I'm stuck. Much easier to input the transactions manually other than expect any help from Intuit. If you want to spend $300,/yr on their crappy software then MAYBE, just MAYBE, they'll find a solution.

I know this hasn't been easy for you, @JAK-TSD. I have some information with regards to the rebuilding process in QuickBooks Desktop.

When backing up company files, QuickBooks uses the built-in disk utility on a Mac to produce a DMG (image) file. This issue usually occurs when the backup location is no longer accessible. Please be reassured that we'll do our best to resolve it.

Since you’re done verifying and rebuilding your company file, I’ll share further troubleshooting steps to help fix this issue. Let’s start with safe rebooting by following the steps below:

  1. Reboot your computer.
  2. Hold the Shift key down until your desktop appears.
  3. Launch QuickBooks and conduct the same action you were attempting to before the Crash Catcher showed up.

Next, let’s add a new MAC OS user:

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Choose the Users & Groups icon.
  3. Select the + button to add a new user with Administrator rights.
  4. Log in with this new user.
  5. Open QuickBooks, then try to reproduce the issue.

You’ll want to read about restoring your backup company file for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. This contains the detailed steps to walk you through the process.

If the issue persists, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support. They can help investigate why you're still getting the same issue and are unable to back up your company file.

Let me know if you were able to get through. If you have any more questions about the process or navigating within the program, please don't hesitate to let me know. I will be around to help you.

My issue is not being able to backup my company file. It backs up fine. I can verify but not rebuild as the screenshot shows.With the exception of Elan Financial (BMW credit card) which wants to go to my Discover card, everything else works fine. Am simply trying to fix the Elan Financial .qbo file so it puts the downloaded transactions in the correct credit card and not in my Discover card

I appreciate you for coming back to the thread and adding extra clarification about your concern, JAK-TSDB. Also, this isn't the kind of sentiment that I wish you to have when downloading transactions. With this, I'll ensure you'll be routed to the right person to assist you with further troubleshooting steps so you can get back on track.

Verifying and rebuilding your data in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac usually find the most common data issues in a company file and fixes them. Since you're unable or getting an unexpected error message in the rebuilding process, I recommend contacting our QBDT for Mac phone support. They have the tools to check your account in a safe environment which we're unable to do it here in the Community. That way, they'll be able to investigate the cause of the problem.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to see steps on how to fix invalid formatting in case you receive the error OL-222: Fix error OL-222 in QuickBooks for Mac.

Please know that you're always welcome to post any questions about importing or managing bank transactions you have in this space,

JAK-TSD. Have a great day ahead.

@JAK-TSD

You should chat with Support and ask Data Service to fix your file. If you don't fix it in time, your corrupted file may get worse. Alternatively, seek a second opinion from a third-party file repair service provider.

Check with your financial institution if you can download in XLS or CSV file format.

Good day!

We want to ensure all of our customer's concerns are resolved as soon as possible.

For me to do so, may I ask for further details about the cc template you're referring? So I can get a better picture of what's happening and ensure we are on the same page.

I'll be looking forward to hearing back from you. I'll do whatever it takes to make sure your problems are addressed. Have a great day.

thank you for your timely reply.  I am trying to download a QBD template for importing my cc transactions into QBD.  Please don't offer me a subscription to QBO.  I am a one person business and don't have the resources for a subscription.  I don't use any other service for QBD, no payroll, no inventory, no vendor invoices.  I just need to record my cc transactions for tax purposes.  I have an inventory/pos database which exports my sales transactions into QBD with only minor problems.

Hello there. I appreciate your immediate response.

You'll need to download a Web Connect file or template directly from your bank so you can manually import your credit card transactions in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). I'll be glad to guide you on how.

Web connect (.QBO) files are online banking transactions from your bank's website. Every financial institution has a different method for downloading QuickBooks Web Connect files. You can visit their website or follow these steps:

  1. Open a web browser and go to your bank’s website.
  2. Sign in to your bank account using your normal process.
  3. Download your transactions as a QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo file).

Once you have the Web Connect file, open QuickBooks and import them to your QBDT company. Then, please make sure to create a backup of your company file for future use. Refer to this article's Import Web Connect (.qbo) files section for the step-by-step guide: Set up bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop.

In case you encounter importing issues, I'd recommend performing the suggested fixes in this article starting with Step 4Fix Web Connect import errors.

Then, you'll want to categorize your downloaded credit card transactions to keep your account updated. You can refer to this article for the detailed steps: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

Also, I encourage you to reconcile your credit card account every month. This helps monitor your expense transactions and detect any possible errors accordingly. For the step-by-step guide, you can refer to this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know how it goes in the comments below. If you have other banking or importing concerns and questions about managing transactions in QBDT, I'm always around to help. Take care, and I wish you continued success.

I'm not sure you understand what I'm asking.  I don't have QBO.  I have QBDT2019.  Until May 31, 2022 I was downloading and importing my cc transactions and classing them for tax purposes.  I saw that there were third-party apps supported by Intuit that would allow me to build a file that could be imported into QBDT, but I can't get the support site to recognize me as administrator.

Chris,

I also have 2019 desktop and can't import qbo files.  Qucikbooks/Intuit took away that ability WHICH WE PURCHASED WITH OUR DESKTOP VERSIONS! I have 5 companies and thousands of card and bank transactions to balance.  Manual isn't an option. I think a class action law suit to give us back the ability we purchased originally would be in order.  Unless you found a solution.  Eric -- [email address removed]

@ebroadwell

Consider the workaround I mentioned earlier. Otherwise, forward this EULA to your attorney immediately. Maybe they can find something to support your demand.

Hello @ebroadwell,

I appreciate you for posting here about the importing issue. I would feel the same about managing bank transactions for multiple companies.

Please know that we've discontinued the 2019 version of QuickBooks Desktop. You can access the add-on services as bank feeds until May 31, 2022.

We notify you in advance (through the mail, email, in-product notifications, and this page) as services for older versions of QuickBooks Desktop are scheduled to be discontinued. Features that automate your tasks in downloading the banking data and other add-on services are supported for a specific period (three years).

For more information about the QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation, check out this link: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.

If you upgrade to a higher version of QuickBooks Desktop, you'll also need to upgrade the company file. To learn more about the simple process, I recommend you visit this article: Upgrade your company files after you switch to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know if you have concerns about bringing banking data over to QuickBooks. We'll be with you all through the process. Take care always.

We just thought we bought software- we didn't know it had an expiration date. Intuit is 100% the sleaziest software company in the business. They put Adobe and Microsoft to shame. Outrageous.

I'm sure this will go class action and they'll play $50M and we'll each get a one year online license to QB 2029

What a joke. That's the worst thing I've ever heard. Intuit's behavior is nothing more than extortionist. Match the garbage support and the crappy software.

Just awful
