Quickbooks Online is absolute garbage. It is hands down the worst platform I have ever used.
Every time I use it I find new things I hate about.
I just moved my entire office to a new location due to an internet outage.
Why is there not a way to work offline???!!!!!!
After completely relocating my office, I worked on a proposal for about an hour, saving a few times.
Suddenly after one save attempt, QB requires me to log in again. After logging in, all work is lost, an entire hour of work lost after wasting hours relocating my office for the day.
......because QB Online is trash!
They will oversell you and they do not support the product.
Hi Matt Bachman,
I appreciate your time in sharing your QuickBooks Online experience with us. I know exactly how it feels when you're unable to save your work.
QuickBooks Online uses cache and cookies for optimum browsing experience. However, it can cause unexpected behavior when it gets full.
We can open QuickBooks Online through a private/incognito window to identify web issues. You can follow these shortcut keys below:
Then, check to see if the system is not logging you out. Then, go back to the main browser to clear the cache to refresh the program and fix unusual behavior.
Another reason could be poor or low internet connection. QuickBooks Online is a cloud-based plan and runs using the internet. If you're relocating to a place where the internet or wifi signal is low, the software's functionality will be affected. Hence, the reason why your work isn't saving.
We also have the Desktop version of Quickbooks where you can work offline and save your work without internet connections.
For more insights, you can check out this link to learn more: QuickBooks Online vs. Desktop.
Let me know if you have other questions. I'll be right up to answer them all for you. Take care!

You can still prepare the transaction data in XLS format and import them in bulk later when your internet connection is available. Otherwise, consider switching to QB Desktop.

I understand your frustration, but QuickBooks Online it is an online only platform. If you want to work offline, I would recommend using QuickBooks Desktop. You can also change your timeout settings: Gear Icon, Account and Settings, Advanced, Other preferences and change the "Sign me out if inactive for", the default is 1 hour. Hopefully that helps.
Yes but the issue is that it "only"
Why would you do that duh why not have a way to use it offline, this same platform.
Of course you can buy a desktop version that was not his issue
Thanks for joining this conversation, @online accounant.
I'm here to help make sure this is taken care of for you.
I can see how having the option to use QuickBooks Online (QBO) offline would be helpful for you and your business. I highly suggest sending feedback directly to our product developers. They're always looking for ideas to consider on how to improve QuickBooks.
Here's how to do it:

Your cut and paste responses should make you bury your face in shame. You latest improvement(sic) (May 15) is a total train wreck. As a 39 year customer, I sincerely hope you guys go bankrupt.
This system is absolutely terrible for P.O.S. Crashing all the time. Freezing when trying to print. Can't copy and paste in certain fields. You can still purchase the one time license for QB Desktop 2021 Pro/Premier or QB Desktop 2022 Accountant edition from some of the
Companies like Quickbooks function for 1 purpose: To take lots of money from us while providing a non-functioning, substandard, sorry excuse for accounting software. For years, they refer us to the "Development Team". Yeah right: Their development team can never be reached because they are in their momma's basement playing games as 8 year olds do. I wish all QB customers would come together and just Stop. Stop sending these con-men our hard earned money. A couple months of non-payment and these bad actors would visit the bankruptcy court.
I PURCHASED quickbooks twice, the last time just a few years ago. works fine, then all of a sudden, my ability to receive payments online is turned off, then a year later, my ability to send invoices via email....turned off.
I purchased the product and now it is obsolete. I have a very small business and I only do maybe a hundred invoices per year and now I have to PAY A MONTHLY CHARGE JUST TO USE A PRODUCT THAT I ALREADY PURCHASED? How is this legal???
Thank you for posting here in QuickBooks Community, @martygrn.
I appreciate you confirming that your QBO account is obsolete. I suggest going to the Billing & Subscription tab on the Account and settings page. From there, you'll be able to check if your subscription was cancelled.
And as for your charge concern, I'd love to help with that. However, I won't be able to do that without asking for your account details. Since the Community is a public forum, I don't want your details displayed here for security purposes. That said, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care team. They can securely pull up your data and check your account and subscription, especially for the charges on your account.
To reach them, click the ? Help button at the top-right corner and select Contact Us to talk with a live agent. Ensure to review their support hours to know when agents are available.
Keep me posted if you have any other concerns about your QuickBooks account. I'll be happy to lend a helping hand. Have a great day.
Nice try moderator: You are trying to deflect by suggesting my account is obsolete. We see the same tactics used by, for example, Biden's press secretary and Rep. Adam Schiff.
I've been with Quickbooks and TurboTax for 39 years. I've had many accounts for the companies I've owned. Of course, when I sell a company or close it, I cancel the QB account for that company.
Your software is what's "obsolete". It was good in the 80s: All downhill since. Since May, 2022, Any hint of an efficient and stable platform is gone, gone, gone. For example, I have to reboot 5 to 10 times per day.
You people are pitiful at what you do, except for taking our money.
QB is worse than terrible.
I have been working on QB for 16 years - for a few small businesses (gross revenues $3 mil). Before that, I was a business analyst for much larger companies, so I have learned to adapt QB so I can extract the data that I need (both for accounting and analysis). We have QB Enterprise for the US businesses, but I thought maybe QB Online would be better for our International Business. That program is a complete disaster, and I am paying $39/month. Honestly, if you have any accounting/business experience, it's complete garbage. I am now looking into a desktop version, but from what I understand, it's difficult to import the data. Don't waste your time and money on QB online. They tried so hard to make it idiot-proof, but it is basically useless.
It is one of the most poorly designed software applications I have experienced. I am too old to do it but some enterprising entrepreneurs need to pull together some VC money and dislodge this lazy monopoly player.
Seed the accounting programs at colleges with a good online platform and this Rube Goldberg is Ask Jeeves in 5 years.
Intuit has outgrown quality customer service, in essence, there is none. Actively working on leaving Quickbooks On Line. A sad day for our company as Intuit was originally the best choice for small business. Big Business like Intuit and small business sometimes do not mix.
The number one measure of quality of software design is whitespace on the screen. The better the software - the more data on the screen. The worse the software - the more whitespace on the screen.
The reason why QBO is so counterproductive is because each screen is little more than white space. It goes deeper into a complete lack of accounting ability sacrificed to engineering architecture, but a simple example is payroll. Under each employee on QB Desktop - you see a list of all that employee's paychecks and dozens of customizable data sets that your mind can process immediately while conducting your analysis or responding to a request from an employee/manager/agency. In QBO on the tab called 'Payroll List' a white screen covers the page with the employee name and a summary of the net and gross pay of the last pay date only. No list. Case closed.
End result: QBDesktop - literally hundreds of data points in one click. QBOnline - white screen with a name.
Again here, it gets deeper into the flaws and counterproductivity. QBO then requires you to run a paycheck history report which produces, you guessed it, mostly white space. I have seven companies on Intuit and have been doing as such for between 1 and 12 companies for twenty years. I am finally looking at Netsuite and it is painful to give up the productivity that was QB.
We recognize your suggestions and need for the feature, Diane.
We'd love to hear your thoughts. I advise sending feedback so our engineers are aware of the functionality you require. This helps them think to consider about including it in later upgrades.
Here's how to send feedback:
Keep track of any updates about the request by visiting our webpage: QuickBooks Online Feature Requests.
For future use, feel free to check out the QuickBooks Online Help page. This contains handy articles and video tutorials depending on your queries.
Keep in touch if you have other concerns with this matter or QuickBooks in general. We're here to guide you through. Take care!
I was hoping to finish my tax returns this weekend and find out Quickbooks Online doesn't export into Turbotax Business. I am going to find another service!!
Almost 4 decades with Quickbooks. In the past 40 years, they have gone from good . . . to broken beyond repair. Employees like on the last post (above) can NEVER solve a problem. They always refer us to equally incompetent "engineers" who NEVER respond. This is a very bad company who does not give a darn about their customers. Additionally they are "woke" as they censor any communication.
It truly is terrible. I have been trying to get help with adding a different URL for Key Bank - the three that are available are not correct for me - and there is simply no way to get assistance. The desktop version I have has been unsupported since May 2022, and I cannot get any useful assistance from AI or humans. I sent the request as prompted in QBO, twice, and no response or even acknowledgement that it went through. Why in the world would QB require online without support? I need to get this resolved and have absolutely no hope of it ever happening.
I agree. We just “upgraded” from desktop to online and Quickbooks Online is terrible. I’m an accountant (a CPA) not a computer geek programmer. Desktop was easy to use but everything is changed for the worse in Online. The menus are terrible. The report formats are terrible. And who formats account lookup in alphabetical order???? Account lookup should be by account number. Completely assinine.
So basically, you need to be a computer programmer or computer geek to use Quickbooks. I’d go back to desktop in a second. Online is the worst f’ing program ever
