Changing the primary work location

Hello!

 

I'm need to run payroll in MN (where our company just moved from CO), however our company's primary location is set in CO.  I would like to change that to MN, as we do not need to pay taxes for CO any longer.  I need help switching the primary location to MN, as well as getting the proper tax information entered.  Please help asap.

Hello there, Kelli.

 

Temporarily, you can change the employee's location. Please follow these steps:

  1. Click Workers.
  2. Choose Employees.
  3. Click the Employee's name that you want to change location.
  4. Click on the pencil icon in the Employment tab.
  5. In the Work Location drop-down, click New Work Location.
  6. Enter the new work location.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click Done.

Also, you can call our QuickBooks Customer Care to have your primary location permanently changed.

This solution doesn't work because this part of the program was changed. There is no Employment tab in the Employees section anymore. FRUSTRATING!!

We'll help you change your primary work location, Greg.

 

The steps shared by Joyce is for changing the work location of an employee. Changing the primary location is different, and we'll need help from our Support to get it done. But first, we can set up your new primary work location, so they can just select it when you contact them.

 

To add a new work location:

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose Payroll settings.
  2. Select Work Locations, then choose Add a Work Location.
  3. Add the new work location, then Save.

To contact our Support:

  1. Open this article: Support hours and types.
  2. Expand the Online Payroll section.
  3. Click Start a message on the product that you're subscribed to.
