Discontinuation of desktop 2024

Yes, you're correct. The subscription is good until May 31, 2027. Yet, allow me to share more information about the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) discontinuation policy.

The payroll subscription is a separate subscription with QBDT, with the same 3-year life cycle as QBDT. Allowing all online services to run smoothly (banking payroll, online payments, and others) as long as QBDT is active.

Furthermore, you can still use your merchant account outside of QBDT even after QBDT is discontinued.

You can still use QB Desktop 2024 + Enhanced Payroll + QB Payment until May 2027.

Hi, So after May 2027 does your QBDT stop working?  Can we still use it without support from intuit? Will I still be able to  access my customer data/reports etc? Beyond May 2027 is QB only available online? Thank You.

We'll have to wait until Q1 2027. If QBO users still need to use QB Desktop to import data into TurboTax, they will definitely offer QB Desktop until then. .

As mentioned by 4Gal, you can still use QB Desktop 2024 + Enhanced Payroll + QB Payment until May 2027.

After the discontinuation of the QuickBooks Desktop 2024 version, you can still use it, but you won't be able to connect to the internet. As a result, features that require internet access, such as payroll and updates, will no longer be available.

Only those 2021 versions of QuickBooks Desktop are affected by service discontinuation after May 31, 2024

• QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2021
• QuickBooks Desktop Premier 2021 (General Business, Contractor, Manufacturing & Wholesale, Nonprofit, Professional Services, and Retail)
• QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 21
• QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition 2021
• QuickBooks Enterprise Accountant 21
• QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021

Intuit decided that after July 31, 2024, they will no longer sell new subscriptions to the following products:

• QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus
• QuickBooks Desktop Premier Plus
• QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus
• QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll

For QuickBooks Desktop 2024 versions, this will already be available on a subscription basis and is renewable annually or monthly. And also you don't have to worry since your credit card account will automatically be charged. Subscription of course means that you have to pay a monthly or annual payment before you use the product.

Will there be no available desktop versions after May 31st, 2024? The company I work for does not like the online version as it is glitchy and does not allow all the same reports that we can run now. If we are being given no choice, then so be it. But if you will still have another version we can upgrade to or switch to, that would be best for us.

You can still purchase QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus/Premier Plus until July 2024. I believe Intuit will release QB Desktop 2025 Enterprise on schedule. QB Online users still need QB Desktop to export their data to TurboTax.

The products affected by the service discontinuation on May 31, 2024, are only QuickBooks Desktop 2021 versions. These are the following:

• QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2021
• QuickBooks Desktop Premier 2021 (General Business, Contractor, Manufacturing & Wholesale, Nonprofit, Professional Services, and Retail)
• QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 21
• QuickBooks Premier Accountant Edition 2021
• QuickBooks Enterprise Accountant 21
• QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021

Additionally, please know that you have until July 31, 2024, to subscribe to the following products:

• QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus
• QuickBooks Desktop Premier Plus
• QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus
• QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll

It won't impact you if you're an existing subscriber because Intuit has decided to stop selling only to new ones. The Enterprise products are also not affected by this change and customers can continue to purchase them after that date. Moreover, QuickBooks Desktop 2024 versions are available on a subscription basis, which you can renew annually or monthly. If you are currently using the 2022 or 2023 QB Desktop versions, will you be able to renew those and switch to the 2024 version?  How long could you wait to do this?

If you are currently using 2022 or 2023 Quickbooks versions will you be able to renew and upgrade to the 2024 version after July 2024?  How soon would that upgrade need to take place for each of those older versions?

However, existing subscribers will not be affected by this change and can continue to renew their subscriptions regardless of the date. QuickBooks will continue to provide customer support, product updates, and security updates to its existing subscribers.

Can you login to your CAMPS and find your license code there? If you can't find it, you can't renew it. You have to purchase a new license of QB Desktop 2024. After July 2024, you can still purchase QB Desktop Enterprise thru selected partners and get perpetual discount 20% off on renewals.
