Hello, I need to change the contact email for payroll but when I go to payroll settings I can not edit the email under "email notifications".

The email listed under "email notifications" does not have the pencil icon next to it so it can not be selected to edit. Is there somewhere else to edit this email?

Yes, the email under Email Notification is tied in your Account and settings. Happy to show you the steps on how to edit this. 

 

To change it, you'll want to edit the Company email in your settings. Here's how: 

 

  1. Click the Gear icon, then select Account and settings.
  2. Go to the Company tab.
  3. Expand the Contact info section.
  4. Change the email address under Company email.
  5. Click Save then Done.

The changes will automatically reflect in the Payroll settings. Here's a visual guide:

I appreciate you for following the steps presented by my colleague above. I'm here to provide other actions that need to perform to change the email address successfully. 

 

But before digging into the solutions, ensure that you've logged in as Master or Company Admin. For more guidance, check out this page: User roles and access rights in QuickBooks Online.

 

Once confirmed, you can now follow the steps below. 

 

  1. Click your profile image beside the Gear icon. 
  2. Hit Manage your Intuit Account and choose Sign-in & Security
  3. Enter your new email address on the box, then tap Done

Once done, make sure that the marketing preferences are set up correctly. See the sample screenshot below. 

 

 

If you don't have permission, I'd recommend communicating with the Admin. 

 

However, if you're an admin and still unable to change the email, I'd suggest communicating with our support. They have tools to investigate the root cause, and they have the availability to change it on your behalf. 

 

Here's how: 

 

  1. Go to the Help menu, then click Contact Us.
  2. Type your concern in the box and hit Let's talk. 
  3. Choose either Start a chat or Get a callback
  4. Complete the needed information and submit the request. 

Please call them within business hours to guarantee we address your problem promptly.
