941 and Wisconsin Withholding

I can see on the desktop version how to file for the 941 and the Wisconsin Withholding.  Where do I find this same feature for the online version of Quickbooks?

Hello there, @Lisa Hansen1.

QuickBooks Online makes it easy to manage payroll taxes. I'll provide you with the steps on how you can file the 941 forms. Here's how:

  1. Go to Taxes on the left-hand menu,.
  2. Within the Payroll Tax
  3. Under Forms, select Quarterly Forms.
  4. Choose the 941 forms.
  5. Select the period, then click on the View/Preview to check the form to see if it's accurate.
  6. (Optional) You can Print this form if it's needed. Then, hit Submit.

For Wisconsin Withholding, you can follow these steps depending on what payroll you’re running.

QuickBooks Online Payroll Core, QuickBooks Online Payroll Premium, QuickBooks Online Payroll Elite:

  1. Go to Taxes and select Payroll Tax.
  2. Select the Payments tab.
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to complete your tax payment.

QuickBooks Online Enhanced Payroll:

  1. Still, within the Payroll Tax, click Create payment on the tax you want to pay.
  2. Select E-pay.
  3. An e-payment confirmation window appears, select Done.

Here are some articles that you can read through for more details:

I'll be around if you need anything else. Take care always and have a good one!

I think I did get it figured out.  Ours is set to automatically file under the payroll settings.  So in this case do we still need to do this process or will it just auto file each time for us?  I just want to be sure it gets filed and paid timely.

Hello there, @Lisa Hansen. It's nice to hear from you again.

Glad that you're able to figure out that your QuickBooks is set to automated tax payment and form filing feature.

Yes, you're right. We pay and file your payroll taxes as long as this feature is enabled, and you've completed your payroll setup. Still, you can turn this feature off to give you more control of making your tax payments and filing forms.

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Payroll Settings.
  3. In the Taxes and forms section, clear the Automate taxes and forms checkbox.
  4. Then, Save.

One thing to take note though, you can't turn this feature off during January to prevent tax filing issues. I've gathered  some article where you can get additional details about filing taxes and forms:

Please let me know if you have other questions as you go along with QuickBooks Online Payroll. Stay safe and be well!
