Does anyone know how to get Payroll to run in Safari?

Payroll stopped running in Safari a coupe months ago. I tried chatting with QBO and called but they weren't able to resolve the issue. They told me they would reach out to me but know one has. I can run Payroll through the app but I'm now getting messages that the app isn't going to be supported. I've tried clearing the history and cache. That didn't fix the issue.

Does anyone know how to get Payroll to run in Safari?

I have the same problem.  Everything else we use QBO for works fine, but I have to go into Firefox in order to run payroll.  First world problems, but it's pretty annoying, as Safari is my preferred browser.

Thanks for joining this conversation, @katenka853.

If you're using the Safari version 10 and below, this may be the reason why you're unable to run payroll since the support for these versions was already discontinued.

However, if you're using Safari version 11 and above, let's try running payroll on a private window. This is the best place to identify any browser-related issue.

This can be done by pressing Command Shift on your keyboard.

If it's successful, return to your default browser and perform a clear cache to refresh the system. However, if the issue persists, try using other supported browsers.

I've added this article for future reference about running payroll reports in QuickBooks Online: Run payroll reports. This will help you identify what specific report you're going to use to keep track of your books about payroll.

Don't hesitate to leave a comment below if you have any other issues or concerns. I'm more than willing to assist. Have a good one!

I tried that and it didn't work.  What I am experiencing is that as soon as I click on "run payroll" it won't even navigate to that screen.  Just keeps thinking.  I'll just keep using Firefox for now.  Your website is not the only one I sometimes have issues with using Safari.  It's happening more and more frequently.  I don't know what Apple is doing.  Oh well.

I have this same issue.  When trying to access the https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/payday page, Safari just sits there spinning a green circle.

I understand wasn't an easy process for you, @MixedSignalMan.

Using Safari version 10 and below could be the reason why you're unable to run payroll. That's because those versions have been discontinued or not supported in QuickBooks.

However, we can try running payroll on a private page if you're using Safari version 11. This way, we can identify if you're experiencing any browser-related issues. To do that, you can press Command Shift on your keyboard.

If it goes through seamlessly, you'll have to clear your regular cache browser. However, if the issue persists, you can try using other supported browsers.

You can also learn more about how to run payroll reports.

Please reply to the thread if you have further questions about QuickBooks and payroll. Take care!

Mich_S, you just posted the same exact thing that was posted earlier in the thread.  We've all already tried these things, as well as contacting support.  Nothing has worked.  Intuit needs to look into this issue, and not just continue to copycat responses.

I understand how convenient it is to use the Safari browser when running payroll on Mac computers, MixedSignalMan.

While we recommend everyone to use other browsers, you can get back again to our QuickBooks Live Support Team. I know you've already contacted them, however, they can pull up your account and update your cases.

Our Live Support Team will forward the case to our Product Team for investigation. Then, we'll send you updates via email once they fix the issue.

Also, the QuickBooks Online Mac app is no longer supported. You can refer to this link for additional information: QuickBooks Online Mac and Windows Desktop App update.

For a better QuickBooks experience, I recommend using supported browsers. Here's a link for your guidance: System requirements for QuickBooks Online, Accountant, and QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Keep me posted if there's anything else I can help you with running payroll. I'll be right here whenever you have follow-up questions about this.

Does anyone know how to get Payroll to run in Safari?

I, too, prefer Safari and really am fed up with QBO and the poor customer service.  I wasted almost an hour on the phone with some guy who told me everything was great on Quickbooks "end", and even ran my payroll without my permission!!!  Then told me he didn't know why it wasn't working, and maybe I should hang up with him and request another call-back!!!  😡. After spending at least 30 minutes with him "screen-sharing".  I refused to hang up.

And you say Safari is not a "perferred" browser, but it IS listed as a preferred browser.  But when I went to do a "Browser check", I got an error.  So maybe take Safari off your Preferred Browser list!!!  It is RIDICULOUS that us Mac users have to switch to another browser to run payroll!

Not a happy QBO payroll customer!!!

Thank you so much , that worked for me  with the
Prevent cross-site tracking in Safari on Mac
In the Safari app on your Mac, choose Safari > Preferences, then click Privacy.
Select “Prevent cross-site tracking”. Unless you visit and interact with the third-party content provider as a first-party website, their cookies and website data are deleted.

Sorry, so we have to compromise our privacy to use QBO payroll? And pay for the pleasure of doing so?

Tried the prevent cross tracking, tried Firefox, tried chrome. Seems that there is no way to run payroll on an iPhone or iPad as far as I can tell. Extremely disappointing since it used to work fine.

I recognize these challenges with running payroll on your iPhone or iPad, especially after having it work seamlessly before. 1. Go to the Go to the Help(?) icon and then hit Search
  2. Click Contact Us.
  • Start a chat with a support expert.
  • Get a callback from the next available expert.
