Holiday Payroll Calendar

Why can't Intuit make it easy to find a full holiday payroll calendar?

You know the one with each holiday spelled out as to what day you must send payroll if a holiday is on such and such a day. Like thanksgiving next week?

Usually I get a notice as I start to send payroll, but I had no notice yesterday.

Holiday Payroll Calendar

Hi there, fclark.

An option/section to see a list of full holiday payroll calendar or receiving a notice about the holidays in QuickBooks Desktop is currently unavailable.

However, you can click the articles below to see a table that contains a list of federal holidays to guide you on managing your payments or collections schedule. Then, to see information on how to adjust your payroll for holidays.

Please also refer to this article to see information on how to create a payroll summary report to view what you've paid out: Create a payroll summary report.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if I can be of further assistance about setting up the holiday pay. Wishing you and your business continued success.

Intuit used to have the entire year mapped out.   I have the link saved in my favorites on my internet browser, and I would access it often.  I tried to access 2021 Holiday Payroll Calendar using the saved link, and  I receive a notice that my question can not be answered.   Well that's helpful!

I have several clients that I need to provide them well in advance as to when they need to get their payroll data to me in order to avoid issues with federal holidays.

When will Intuit have this much needed information available to their users?

It's Jan 8th and you still don't have a 2021 calendar? This is ridiculous! My clients needed their payroll calendars last month.

I need this as well. I look like I am not doing my job because we submit an annual payroll schedule each year to all department heads for when payroll needs to be submitted. This is usually done in early December, yet here we are almost mid-January and I have yet to get this distributed. It makes me look bad and clogs up my inbox and voicemail from department heads wanting this. There is no excuse for Intuit to not have this completed yet.

ADP has their 2021 and 2022 schedule posted and Paychex has 2021 posted. Again, there is no excuse this has not been done yet.

Did QB ever provide a 2021 Holiday payroll processing calendar and if so, where could I find this? Thanks

Let me share some details about Holiday Payroll Calendar, @klariviere1.

Currently, the Holiday Payroll Processing Calendar or receiving notice about the holidays is unavailable in QuickBooks. In the meantime, you can view the following articles below to get the list of federal holidays as your guide in managing your payroll schedule.

Additionally, you can run a payroll summary report to review what you've paid out from the previous workload.

Feel free to tag me in your comment if you have other concerns with viewing important dates to run payroll in QuickBooks. I'm always here to lend you a hand.

Thanks for joining this thread, NPDoffice.

Holiday Payroll Processing Calendar is unavailable. You'll want to take notes and review the federal holidays manually. You can check the resources shared by Jovychris_A for your reference.

May I know which part you need help with? Any additional details will be appreciated.

In the meantime, you can check the following article for some links about the payroll tasks in QuickBooks Online: Payroll Resource Hub

December 20, 2021, and we are still waiting for Intuit to get it together.  This is beyond annoying!!

Does anyone know if New Years Day will be treated the same as Christmas Day for direct deposit payroll?

i.e. the holiday is observed on Friday, thus requiring employers to pay employees a day early.

Thanks for getting back to us, @wilchvan.

As of now, there is no specific timeline as to when Holiday Payroll Processing Calendar for the year 2021 will be available. I see how beneficial it is to you and to your business to have this option. Rest assured our product team is working on an update about this.

Moreover, both Christmas and New Year's Day fall on a Saturday. According to our Federal holidays', if a holiday's calendar date falls on a Saturday, it will be observed on the preceding Friday. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, it will be observed on the following Monday.

I'd recommend paying your employees a day earlier than the observed holidays' date. That way, they can receive their paycheck.

To learn more about how to ensure your employees get paid on time when there’s a holiday, I suggest checking out this article: How do federal holidays affect my direct deposit?

Please know you can continue to reach me here with any additional questions. Thanks for coming to the Community, wishing you continued success. Stay safe!

Holiday Payroll Calendar

This is a non-answer and not helpful. As an accounting firm using QB desktop we have several hundred clients who do not want to pay their employees a day early "just in case" payroll is not able to be processed on New Year's Eve which is NOT a Federal Holiday or observed by the banks as banks are open on this date.
My main issue here is that QBO had no problem processing payroll on Christmas Eve but QB Desktop could not even though there were no warnings of late employee deposits while processing the regular payroll schedule if one was to forget to manually change the pay date to a day earlier. This is a process that QB Desktop has always handled well with an early notification message in QB (received), an automatic adjustment to the day prior for any scheduled pay date affected (not done), and a warning at the time of submitting payroll that the employees would be paid late (not done). If we had not been observant and looking for issues many employees would have been paid 12/27/21 rather than 12/23/21 when they were required to be paid per QB Desktop.
I'm currently on Intuit.com looking for confirmation for New Year's Eve direct deposit information because there is no Direct Deposit Notification for New Year's Day addressing whether payroll can be processed or not in QB Employee Center but a notification for MLK Day did arrive today. I'm a big fan and advocate of QB Desktop but this particular issue has been very frustrating and leaves Desktop users feeling ignored.

So instead of leaving the pay date as 12/31/21 we should change the pay date to 12/30/21?  Can you please give a direct answer?

Let me share some additional info.

Weekends and federal holidays are non-banking days. Please make sure to submit the payroll by 5:00 PM PST 2 business days prior to payday.

Update: I did a test payroll for one of our clients and the direct deposit processed as normal for a Friday deposit with the emailed confirmation from QB confirming that all was well. Last week when a payroll was processed for Friday the emailed confirmation gave Monday as the deposit date for employee wages. With this new information I am processing all direct deposit payrolls as normal for this Friday.

Following this since this is crazy. We need to know when is the last day to process before the end of the year.

We also need to give our employees pay dates more than 30 days in advance, each time.

We might leave Quickbooks Payroll as a result of this.

Hello, Mikey12341.

You have a one-day lead time with QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Assisted. This implies you must submit your payroll one business day prior to payday by 5:00 p.m. PST.

You have until 4:59 p.m. PST the next day to invalidate or add paychecks once you've submitted payroll. Payroll processing begins after 5:00 p.m. and cannot be stopped.

Also, please keep in mind, Intuit won’t process your payroll on weekends or on state or federal holidays

Check this article for more information about lead times and your payroll submission days: When do I need to submit payroll to pay employees on time?

I'm always here if you need more help with your payroll. I'm always glad to help in any way I can. Have a great rest of the day and stay safe!

September 2022 and this is still unresolved. Is it not possible for QB to put together a payroll calendar?

Hello I am trying to figure out what day I need to do direct deposit for thanksgiving. Do I need to do payroll on Monday ore can I do regularly on Wednesday.

Holiday Payroll Calendar

Hi there, @mistylin.

I'll help you figure out when to process direct deposits when a holiday is coming depending on the payroll version you are using.

If you're using QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Assisted, you'll have a 1-day lead time. This means you need to submit your payroll before 5:00 PM PT 1 business day prior to payday.

For example, if your payday falls on Friday (November 25), you'll need to approve your paychecks by Wednesday (November 23) before 5:00 PM PT. It's because Thursday (November 24) is Thanksgiving day.

However, if you use QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced, your direct deposit processing time takes 2 business days. It means that you need to submit the payroll by 5:00 PM PT 2 business days prior to payday.

Let’s look at an example. If your payday falls on Friday, you'll need to approve your paychecks by Tuesday (November 22) before 5:00 PM PT since Thursday is a holiday. Your account will then be debited on Wednesday, and your employees receive the money on Friday.

I'm adding these resources for more guidance:

Come back to this post if you need more information about this, @mistylin. I'll be around to provide further details.

Once you're ready to pay your payroll taxes in QuickBooks Desktop, you can check out this YouTube video for more guidance: How to pay payroll taxes and liabilities in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

Have a great day ahead!
