I can guide you on how to add the phone number, @thomasaswain.
I've attached this article on how to print paychecks and pay stubs in QuickBooks Online.
You can leave a message below if you have any other concerns. I'll be here to keep helping. Take care.
Hi Grace, thanks for the reply. I think what you showed me is for the desktop version. I have the online version and I don't see where to set up paycheck printing preferences. Can you confirm?
Thanks
Hello, thomasaswain.
I'll confirm the steps and elaborate the instructions given by my colleague. I'll also throw in a solution to fix content issues while navigating in QuickBooks Online.
Grace's steps are for the QuickBooks Online version. As what she mentioned, the Paycheck Printing Settings is available under the Preferences. I'll add screenshots to help you navigate more easily:
If you're unable to find it or if it doesn't show up, then let's check to see if this is a cache-related issue. When a browser's storage is full or corrupted, it won't display contents such as links, images, or some parts of the webpage.
Use an incognito or private window to rule out this issue:
From there, log in to QuickBooks Online and do the same steps again. After enabling the option to add the phone number, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache. Alternatively, use another supported browser to turn on the option.
If you're using the QuickBooks Online Windows app, click the Help menu then choose Reset App Data. It works exactly like clearing the browser's cache.
After fixing the issue, do you need help managing your QuickBooks Online Payroll services? Our articles are available for you to read. They contain guides, information about payroll taxes and the likes. Check them out here. Change the product by selecting another under the Topics for section (if you need help with QuickBooks Online in general).
I'm happy to help you out again. Post your replies here if you have questions or concerns with your payroll services or for QuickBooks Online. I hope you're having a nice Sunday.
Thanks for the insight. I followed your steps. The gear icon and payroll settings layout is similar, however, once I click on payroll settings, it is different. Would it be a version of QuickBooks or Payroll I am using? I have attached an image of the screen I come to after clicking payroll settings.
I tried the solution you posted and still not visible. I have another company in my profile. I went to that company and was able to see the same payroll screen you posted. Seems to be a coding issue on the back end. It works in one company but not in the other. I upgraded my QB subscription to see if that changed anything and still nothing.
Hello, thomasaswain.
Glad to have you back. Thanks for the clarifications and screenshot. I appreciate taking the time to do the steps I've mentioned. I'm here again to share information regarding your payroll settings and how you can print the phone number.
Looking at the screenshot, I can see that you're using the Standalone Payroll service (without the QuickBooks Online module). At this time, this version offers basic paycheck printing settings, as you might've noticed the difference between this company and the other one.
Our developers might incorporate more settings (such as adding the phone number on paychecks automatically) in the future. Check out our blog for news about product updates.
In the meantime, you can add the company number on the paycheck's memo box before printing it. Here's how:
I'm adding this link again if you need help with other payroll tasks.
Our developers are continuously working to make improvements for the product. Please let me know if there's anything else you need with your payroll service. If you have questions from your other company file, I'd be more than happy to help.
Ok. That would make sense. Is there an upgrade I can do to utilize the QB Online module or is this the only option for now?
Thanks for keeping us posted, thomasaswain.
For now, you can use the workaround given by my colleague to enter the company phone number in the Memo field. We're still waiting for more features to be incorporated in the payroll settings.
I already took note of this feedback and for our product updates on what's new with QuickBooks, check out our blog. To help you more with our payroll settings and with running payroll, visit the Community Help articles.

Hello, I am having the same issue. My payroll setting options are different than the screenshots shown. I can use the proposed solution involving a memo manually writing out the company phone number; is there a timeline on when this will be resolved? Thanks!
I can see how you would want to include a phone number on your paychecks, @IanE. Allow me to share some information and provide some updates about this ability in QuickBooks Online Payroll.
As of the latest rolled-out information, the ability to include phone numbers on paychecks in the Standard Payroll service (without the QuickBooks Online module) is unavailable. I understand how challenging it might be not to be able to perform and include the things we want to. Me too, would love to see this feature being implemented to all Payroll subscriptions as this will benefit not just you, but others who've been wanting this as well.
With that being said, let's send a request for this feature to our Product Developers so that can consider adding this in future updates:
You can refer to this link so you can track the status of your request and get the latest updates from our development team: QuickBooks Online Customer Feedback.
Your feedback is highly appreciated and we're committed to improving your overall QuickBooks experience.
Additionally, I'd like to include that the implementation of new and requested features has no specific timeframe as these will still undergo extensive testing to make sure that their capacity is fully working.
