Is there a way to move an amount on a prior paycheck from reimbursements to cash housing allowance?

Yes, there's a way to move an amount from reimbursement to cash housing allowance in QuickBooks Online, mcmd08.

You can void the prior paycheck and recreate a paper check. This way, you can move the amount by selecting the correct pay type (cash housing allowance).

Here's how to void a paycheck:

  1. Click Payroll in the left panel and choose Employees.
  2. Tap the Paycheck list.

  3. Locate and select the prior paycheck and click Void. Once voided, this will change your records and updates the paycheck dollar amount to zero.

  4. Select the I understand that this action cannot be undone checkbox.
  5. Hit Void Paycheck.

Before re-creating the paper check, ensure to select the cash housing allowance to add this pay type on the employee's paycheck.

After that, you can now re-create the paycheck:

    1. From the Employees tab and click Run payroll.

    2. Choose the Paper Check under Payment Method.

    3. Tap Preview payroll.
    4. Hit Submit payroll.

However, if you don't have the void option, I recommend contacting our Payroll Customer Care. They can help you delete and move the amount in the question.

Can I still do this if it was a direct deposit?

Yes, you can, @mcmd08.

You’ll need to delete and recreate the direct deposit. Then, ensure to enter the amount to your cash housing allowance when recreating the deposit.

To be guided about the process, you can refer to the steps shared by peer RoseMarjorieA above.

Once you're all set, you can now print your paychecks, and pay your payroll taxes.
