You just need to have an active payroll subscription to have this feature. If you have, you'll have to set up your contractors for Direct Deposit. Here's how:
Although, we're unable to create a recurring payment from it. You'll have to select Pay with direct deposit manually if you'll record a payment for your contractor.

Soo... if I read through your reply, I have to infer my answer.

Why not just say "no, quickbooks cannot auto-direct deposit contractors"
Offering that you're "only a post away" doesn't help when the answers are not clear.
I did all that and it give me a message that says: Something does not look right. Please wait a moment and try again. I have tried several times and still get that message.

Currently, we have an ongoing investigation about paying Contractors when using Direct Deposit in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Our engineers are actively working to know the root cause of this unexpected behavior.
While we look into this, I recommend reaching our Customer Support Team to add you as an affected user. This way, you'll receive an email notification once we resolve this. You can also provide this (INV-87713) number.
