Payroll - Change in salary.

The treasurer just asked me to pay an employee her old salary for the first week of the pay period and a new amount for the second week...How do I do that? (Biweekly payroll)

Payroll - Change in salary.

Hi there, Chmm53.

You can manually update the employee's pay rate in the Payroll info section of its profile.

  1. Click the Employees menu.
  2. Choose Employee Center.
  3. Double-click the name of the employee.
  4. Click on Payroll Info.
  5. Change the rate in the EARNINGS section.
  6. Click OK.

If you need more help about changing your employee's rate, feel free to go back to this thread.

Thanks for the answer.  The thing is, the first week of the pay period should be the old rate, but the second week should be the new rate, and she's on Salary, not hourly...

Thanks for following up with the Community, Chmm53.

You can pay a salaried employee their old rate by changing it using JessT's steps. Be sure to select an appropriate payroll schedule and item name.

For the second week, you can repeat my colleague's steps and enter their new rate.

I've included a few detailed resources about working with salaried employees and pay schedules that may come in handy moving forward:

Payroll - Change in salary.

To do this, first calculate the difference between the old and new salary for the two week period. Then as you pay the employee, edit the check and manually add 1/2 of that to the old salary .

After paying the employee, then edit the employee record and enter the new salary amount.

Payroll - Change in salary.

Before I read your answer, I found a way to add half the difference between the old and new salary. It didn't let me change the original bi-weekly amount, so I created an item called Payroll Raise and added it there.  It works.  Thank you all for your help!
