Payroll Desktop versus Payroll Online

Hi Group

I will like to ask some feedback here, as the majority know Quickbooks decided to increase and change many futures on the QBO and all these new prices are going to affect my profits, today I received a bill and it was double for what I was paying, I been thinking on moving some customers back to Quickbook Desktop but never use the payroll function In Desktop, I want to see if the Payroll enhanced will cover multiple companies or just 1 company

if you can share some feedback to me as Im very unhappy with the extra charges for payroll

Thanks

Payroll Desktop versus Payroll Online

Each QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Payroll service has a limit on the number of companies you can add to a single subscription, @Erik-Davila.

For QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Basic, Standard, and Enhanced, you can have 3 EINs at most. The Assisted version is charged separately, while the Enhanced for Accountants version can have up to 50.

To add an EIN to your subscription, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Employees menu.
  2. Select Payroll.
  3. Press Use My Existing Payroll Service
  4. Under Identify Subscription, choose Use Subscription Number XXXXXXX.
  5. Choose Open, then Next.
  6. Tap Next to add the company EIN when the Add Company Information window opens.
  7. Verify the Service Key
    • Select Employees, then My Payroll Service, then Manage Service Keys.
    • Select View to display the new service key with an Active Status.

See this article for more information about this process: Add an EIN to existing Payroll Subscription

In case you encounter an issue with adding your payroll service to another QBDT company, keep this article for reference: The "Use my existing payroll service" option is not available.

Tag me in a comment below if you have other questions about payroll services in QBDT. I'll be glad to assist you further.
