Recently moved from Intuit Payroll to QBO Payroll Need Help Exporting to Quickbooks Desktop Mac

We had to move to QBO payroll from Intuit Payroll. I used to be able to export into a IFF file straight into Quickbooks desktop Mac. All I can find is an export button to excel which I do not use on a Mac. Any thoughts of how to export from QBO payroll checks to Quickbooks Desktop??

Hello, jannis1980.

Thank you for posting in the Community. I'm here to provide additional clarification about exporting data to QuickBooks Desktop.

Currently, the option to export payroll data is unavailable. Though, some payroll information will be converted. You can export payroll transactions to QuickBooks Desktop by setting up an IIF file.

Learn more about the export limitation at this link: Limitations when you convert from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.

You can also scan through these resources for more details about exporting payroll transactions in QBDT:

Hello there, SJP1943.

I recognize the importance of being able to export your payroll data to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. Let me guide you on how to perform this process in your current payroll service.

We’ll have to set up your Export Preferences first and then move your paychecks to the Mac program. Before proceeding make sure that you have a copy of your QuickBooks chart of accounts handy.

To configure the preferences:

  1. In your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company, tap the Gear icon to choose Payroll settings.core export.png
  2. Next, tap the Pencil icon for Export and select QuickBooks Desktop for Windows: downloadable IIF (Intuit Interchange Format) file.core export.png
  3. If you’re unable to see this option, go to the QuickBooks Online section and click the Change link to open the Export Accounting Preferences page.core export.3.png
  4. From there, tick the box for QuickBooks Desktop for Windows: downloadable IIF (Intuit Interchange Format) file.core export.2.png
  5. Click the Continue button and follow the on-instructions to complete the export process.

Once done, you can now export individual paychecks. Check this article for detailed instructions: Export into QuickBooks Online or Desktop from Core, Premium, or Elite Standalone Payroll. Then go to the To export individual paychecks section.

I’m adding some links below to help with your future tasks. These resources contain detailed information on how to use each payroll feature. From there, you’ll also learn about the benefits of the service.

Keep in touch if you have other payroll concerns or need assistance with moving your payroll data to other platforms. I’m more than happy to help. Have a good one.
